Newer Golfer Driver Help – Poor contact and direction

In this video I did for one of my clients, I’m showing her how to use her wrists in her driver swing to help with centeredness of contact on the face of her club. As a coach, I will always check to make the lead hand grip is in a position to use the wrists correctly before continuing into this piece on the wrist and elbow relationship. I find most newer golfers are told not to “break” their wrists and open face shots appear when they apply this poor concept. Here you can see we talk about post impact movement of wrists and elbows. She was bending her elbows first at impact instead of resetting her wrists – thus pulling the club across the ball and not able to square the face. We used a fun analogy on holding an umbrella so she could self-coach when she practiced her driver. Understanding the relationship between your wrist joints and your elbow joints can help with squaring the face AND increasing speed with your driver. Happy Golfing!
