There’s a lot of internal conversation that can go into picking the shot you want to hit, especially when faced with unusual circumstances or in-between yardages.
Instead of going back and forth between clubs, when you reach your ball, immediately begin the conversation, take into account everything from the lie, wind and distance to the pin position and contours of the green. Once you’ve come to a conclusion, set your bag down, pull out your club and play a committed shot.
