Disc Golf Putter Practice – Working on Reaching Back More AND Hitting Power Pocket

Basket is at exactly 200′. I’m always happy with putter drives that surpass that distance. I needed my Buzzz for that distance last year.

The hard work and struggle continues. I’ve begun working on pulling back farther (to coil my hips and core muscles more so that I can impart more energy into the Disc) and after some feedback from the last video, I’m also focusing on hitting the power pocket better too, all while not tripping over my own feet.

Every time I work on reaching back further, it feels like I’m reaching WAY way back, and on video it looks like I’m barely reaching back. Here it’s starting to look like I’m maybe sort of reaching back a bit, but it’s true…In real life it felt like I was exaggerating how far back. It’s still probably not enough.

It’s not muscle memory yet. That’s what the next few weeks will be dedicated to achieving.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over this whole ordeal is that change comes very slowly and with lots of hard work…but it’s palpable and I’m happy. Not bad compared to where I was last year. I’m not satisfied, though. Really want to look less gimpy, stiff and unathletic. Would love for my brain to feel everything happening and to remember the whole throw once the Disc is in the air. That might sound weird to some of you, but it seems like maybe a third of the time, I’m watching the Disc in the air and saying, “Shit, I don’t remember what my body felt like for the second half of that throw at all.”

Practice, optimism, and more practice. I will get there.
