Backyard Practice | 12JUN2020

Given that I won’t have much time to play on the course this year (9 month old baby to look after), I got a basic net and hitting mat to practice in the backyard, as it only takes a few minutes to setup.

Years ago (back in 2010) , I bought a product called “Almostgolf” which is a dense foam/plastic ball that is much harder than those sponge/foam balls but still much softer than a real golf ball. They advertise that you can’t break a window with it still give you enough feedback as if you’re hitting a real ball.

For iron shots I think this is a perfect substitute but for wedge shots and driver swings, I still prefer a real golf ball. As I don’t want to break any neighbor’s windows, I will only use the Almostgolf balls but did try a few punch shots with a real ball which the basic net barely held up to.
