My name is Shane and I’m a qualified professional golf coach. l have a coaching theme and that is to think less and feel more. The golf swing has become way to technical.
I’ve played the majority of my golf as a thinking golfer and become trapped in swing thoughts and the never ending search for the perfect swing, which of course doesn’t exist. Swing thoughts, whilst playing, will inhibit your true potential.
I’ve spent a long time breaking down and learning my swing. Initially there was a lot of thought involved, you have to think about what your doing whilst you learn the individual components of your swing and practice them until they become habitual, you then go from a thinking golfer to a feel golfer.
If you want to become a low handicap golfer, a pro golfer or a golfer who can just go out there on any given day and play to a good standard, you are going to have to learn your golf swing. There’s no short cut.
My golf lessons are visual and focus on getting golfers to see and feel the moves they need to make. The secret to a good golf swing is in the hips and the hands. Most golfers don’t use their hips correctly, especially when they initiate the down swing. As for the hands, being able to feel your hand position at any given point in your swing is essential, especially through impact. Your hands aren’t just there to hold the club. When you grip the club you should be making sure the club face is square to your intended target, then when you impact the ball you will be able to feel the ball’s flight and direction through your hands.
