BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The Southern Arkansas golf teams ended their fall schedule in Oklahoma at the annual Tulsa Cup at Indian Springs Country Club.
The Muleriders placed 15th, while the Lady Muleriders finished in 14th place.
All five of the Muleriders placed within the golfer-field’s top-55 and finished with a cumulative score of 936 (+72) after the three rounds.
Junior Will Blake led the group in their last tournament of the fall season and placed tied for 36th scoring seventeen-over-par (238) during the two days. Blake started the tournament recording 81 strokes in round one and saw improvement during the next two rounds finishing both four-over-par (76). He went even at 34 holes and recorded three birdies.
Next for the Muleriders was freshman Blane Burk who finished in 47th recording 28 pars, four birdies, and one eagle. He finished the first half of his freshman season with a total score of 236 (+20) in the tournament and managed to improvement over all three rounds going 80-79-77.
Freshman Jett Stephenson recorded one more stroke than Burk scoring 237 (+21) to finish tied for 48th. He recorded 85 strokes during the first round and finished the tournament shooting four-over-par in the last two rounds. Stephenson went even at 32 holes and recorded a total of five birdies over the three rounds.
The senior duo of Logan McDonald and Wil Griffin II both finished tied for 51st recording one more stroke than Stephenson and finished with a total score of 238 (+22).
The Lady Muleriders scored a total of 978 (+114) strokes over the three rounds going 323-324-331.
Freshman Brianna Chamoun was the only Lady Mulerider to place within the golfer-field’s top-10. The Sycamore, Illinois native finished the first part of her freshman season by scoring seventeen-over-par (233) and placing tied for 9th going 78-75-80 over the three rounds at the par-72 course. Chamoun went even at 29 holes and recorded five birdies. This is Chamoun’s second Top-10 placement as she earned her first tied for 9th at the Northeastern Women’s Classic at the beginning of the fall.
Junior Aubrey Marx shot a final three-round combined score of 247 (+31) to finish tied for 53rd. She recorded 81 strokes during the first round and finished the tournament shooting 83 on the last two rounds. With a total of 23 pars and five birdies the El Dorado, Arkansas native closed out the first half of her junior campaign.
Taylor-Rose Hubbard scored only one more shot than Marx and finished tied for 57th with 248 (+32) shots over the 54 holes. Hubbard saw improvement between the first two rounds as she started with a score of 82 in round one, and recording two strokes less in round two. In the third and final round, Hubbard shot 86.
Freshman Viviana Farias finished the third round with a score of ten-over-par, to finish 66th in the tournament with a three-round score of 250 (+34).
Emma Hester finished the tournament tied for 85th with a final score of 46-over-par (262).
Bella Frisby competed individually and recorded an 89th-place finish scoring 265 (+49) over the 54 holes at the Forest Ridge Golf Club.
The Muleriders and Lady Muleriders will be back in action in the spring to continue their 2024-2025 campaign.
