A breezy day with some showers on Saturday meant conditions were difficult for the women competing in round one of their Winter Stableford competition and the men playing in round one of their Winter Eclectic.
Pauline Craig mastered the conditions best in the ladies’ competition, winning with an excellent Stableford score of 38 points.
Eilidh Paterson made a welcome return to competitive action at the course and fired a fine round to post a score of 37 points for second place. Su Hawes finished two points further adrift to take third place on 35 points, ahead of Pam Bain on 33 and Rosalind McQuaker on 32.
Andy Bain fired a tremendous round of 79 for nett 68 to top the men’s eclectic standings, with a fine birdie at the ninth helping him to victory.
A brace of birdies at the fourth and 16th helped Andrew Taylor to second place after he also fired a round of 79, giving him a nett score of 69.
Steve Efemey was also on the birdie trail, with his coming at the second and 13th as he finished in third spot after a round of 85 for nett 72.

In the latest North Point Distillery Senior Stableford action, birdies at the sixth and 16th helped Willie Steven to a winning score of 39 points, with his round including a sizzling front nine of 35 shots.
A solid round of 84, made up of matching halves of 42, helped Alex Anderson to second place on 35 points. Malcolm Thomson and Sandy Chisholm were next best after both bagged 34 points.
David R Craig was the winner in the latest round of the Winter League Stableford after a birdie at the eighth helped him to a winning score of 37 points in tough conditions.
A fine outward nine of 39 helped David Mackay to take second place on 33 points, ahead of Pauline Craig and Donald Mowat who finished on 31.
This weekend will see teams of four competing in the Ronnie Campbell Open on Saturday, while Sunday will see the latest round of the Winter League Stableford competition.
