It’s always a bittersweet moment in the season when the final event day arrives. All the hard work from the event staff across the year and all the hard work on the course from the players reaches it’s pinnacle and all that’s left to do enjoy the final day.
And what a day it was at the K Club as the Palmer North course played host to category winners and Flogas Order of Merit qualifiers alike to find the Irish Golfer Events Champion for 2024.
Players were met with a beautiful October day which was in keeping with the (mostly) wonderful event weather enjoyed across the season and the course and service at The K Club was as superb as we’ve come to expect.
On the course there’s always someone who has a magical day and today it was Oisin Mahon (Cill Dara) as he almost lapped the field with 47 points and lifted the newly commissioned Waterford Irish Golfer Perpetual Trophy as well as winning a smaller version for himself and a free single entry into every one-day Irish Golfer event in 2025.
“I’m not used to speaking at these things”, said a coy Mahon, “I’m delighted to win and I’d like to say thank you to the K Club, my playing partners and everyone at Irish Golfer for putting on such wonderful events. This is my first year playing in them but I’m looking forward to next year already.”
