Byeong Hun An: What’s in the bag?  – Articles

We take a look inside the bag of Genesis Championship winner Byeong Hun An.

Nine years on from his first DP World Tour title at the BMW PGA Championship, An won his long-awaited second as he overcame fellow South Korean Tom Kim in a play-off at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea.

Still a brand ambassador for Titleist almost a decade on, the main equipment change in his set-up is the absence of any form of fairway wood or hybrid in his bag.

Back in 2015 at Wentworth Club, An carried a three-wood and a hybrid but now – including last week in Incheon – he usually doesn’t which is unlike most of his peers.

Instead, the two-time Presidents Cup player usually opts to play his utility one iron – the Titleist U505.

Otherwise, the other distinctions of note between his two victories on the DP World Tour is that he has since switched to a long putter, while he also no longer has a three-iron, instead putting into use an extra wedge.

For his victory on home soil, he carried driver, a one and three utility iron, 4-9 iron, 48, 52, 56 and 60-degree wedges and putter.

This was unchanged from his previous best finish in a regular DP World Tour event of T18 at last month’s BMW PGA Championship.
