Three Chester County golf courses are among the best golf courses in Pennsylvania, according to a new ranking.

Three Chester County golf courses are among the best public-access and private golf courses in Pennsylvania according to Golfweek’s recently published ranking, writes Jason Lusk for USA Today.

The list contains the top public-access and private courses that were judged by members of Golfweek’s course-ratings panel based on ten criteria.

Wyncote in Oxford ranked at No. 9 in the state among the public-access courses. This heathlands-style course was designed by Brian Ault and is one of the most challenging courses in the area.

The Old Course at Stonewall in Elverson came in tenth from the private courses. It features demanding shot values from the tees and the fairways. It also offers an open approach to golfers who want to bounce their ball into the greens, but they have to take a different line of play to take advantage of that option.

Applebrook in Malvern ranked at No. 18 among the best private courses. The course was designed by Gil Hanse to offer a wide variety of terrain, change of direction, and balance.
