After ‘Complicated Relationship’ Ex-pro Paige Spiranac Suffers an Official Drop While Making Serious Golf Adjustments

A figure of +3.4! Confused as to what it could possibly mean? Yes, it’s the golfing diva’s handicap that she divulged a while back through her social media handle. But that was back in June this year, to be honest, and the number would have long changed since then. How did we come to know that when Paige Spiranac herself was a person who never kept score? Well, let’s just say, the golf queen seems to have recently gone through a massive change.

The 31-year-old athlete shared a post on her blog mentioning her current handicap of +3.9 as per the USGA GHIN on Instagram. That’s not all. She even went ahead to explain why she started keeping score of her handicap, something which she never did in the first place. “This has been my first full year keeping my handicap in years,” wrote Spiranac. “After I had stopped playing competitive golf, I had no interest or practice in keeping my score.”

8 whole years! It took her just 2 shy of a decade to keep track of her figures, for she had retired from professional golf back in the year 2016. The reason? “I had a very complicated relationship with tournament golf because my score determined my self-worth,” added the model. “It was unhealthy and took years to overcome.”

Yes, it was an increase in handicap, making her golf +3.4 to jump with +3.9. Although it indicated an observation many wouldn’t prefer to have, Spiranac made sure to give a pat on her back despite the recent change. “I’m proud to say I’ve finally gotten to a place where I live keeping my score and tracking my progress,” continued the social media influencer, “It’s been fun to practice, work on my game, and then put it into these.” And work on her game, she sure did, especially since the athlete made a recent comeback into competitive golf.

You read it right, and yes, we’re alluding to the Creator Classic that the golf queen had teed off back in August. Even though she didn’t emerge victorious, the golfer was able to defeat many in the field to clinch a commendable position for herself back at the event.

Paige Spiranac’s return to competitive golf

Let us take a peek back to the 2024 TOUR Championship or the Wednesday ahead of the event. For that was when the inaugural edition of the PGA Tour’s Creator Classic was held at the East Lake Golf Club. Interestingly, this was the first time in which the circuit pitted 16 content creators against each other at the iconic course’s newly restored back nine.

She sure was nervous ahead of the tournament. “It’s the week of the Creator Classic,” the athlete exclaimed back then, “Although nervous to play competitive stroke play again (it’s been 8 years) I’m excited for this amazing opportunity!” And through her sheer effort, Paige Spiranac was able to beat as many as 7 golfers in the field to finish at T9, with a score of 2-over par.

Impressive, isn’t it? A few would disagree. Especially so if you are a fan of the model-cum-social media influencer who currently has a handicap of +3.9. Embracing the change, it seems!
