This vlog focuses on the back nine at Leopard Creek Country Club.

This course vlog was filmed during Andrew’s practice round for the GolfRSA African Amateur Strokeplay Championship.

GolfRSA ran an amazing tournament and the golfing talent coming through in South Africa is extremely exciting!

Leopard Creek Country Club:

Leopard Creek golf course (1996) is a golf architectural splendor, designed by Gary Player. Located in Malelane , South Africa.

Leopard Creek, which offers an interesting mix of golf and safari, is an exclusive members club where guests however are welcome on weekdays

Gary Player said the following about the course: ” Leopard Creek is surrounded by bushveld. The fact that you could be playing while hearing a hippo snort or seeing a lion near the fence is unique, as is the pitch shot you might hit over a lake full of hippos and crocodiles.”Around the course, there are a plenty of water and small streams. Crocodile River cuts through the terrain and is home to wild crocodiles, and in general there is ample opportunity to experience African wildlife during your round.The golf course is located on the edge of Kruger National Park and elephants, giraffes and antelopes are ‘in play’ when you move around on the fairways.The 13th hole, the long par 5 hole is one of the course signature holes. The green is situated by the river, but raised more than 30 meters above ground level, and the green area has a great view over the river and into Kruger National Park.The finishing hole is also a wonderful golf hole. You play towards an island green and there is no better way to end a round of golf, which for most people will go directly into the top-five list of best golf experiences.

The course has been used in the Alfred Dunhill Championship and is considered to be among South Africa’s best golf courses.

Interesting facts:

The fairways have been replaced with warm season Bermuda a grass that requires 30% less water and less chemicals to maintain.

The greens have been planted with the latest strain of champion bent grass from Houston, Texas. Leopard Creek now has the South African rights to this particular grass.
