  1. Just playing devils advocate here, but if this is as good as you say, good feel , good launch, good distance, forgiving, surely that’s what every golfer wants, is this in your bag ?

  2. Too big and bulky for me, but difficult to argue with the figures. Of course I would prefer more spin, even at 28 degrees that spin is a bit low, but that may say more about Andy's swing than the club. However with good peak height and descent angle a ball hit with a 7i will stop reasonably quickly unless you are on hard summer links greens – although right now with some of the weather close to me, everything is stopping quickly!

  3. I know your sponsored now by pxg, but why don’t you compare the black ops to other brands with the same or similar clubs? This channel went from reviews to oh look how amazing PXG is now. I’m not sponsored and I built a set of Xcor2 irons. I like them but I would compare the p790, Callaway ai smoke iron, cobra dark speed and the T350 to it. Then allow us to judge which performs better or makes us want to go hit and compare for ourselves. Other than that yes the black ops look good and from the video sound amazing. I haven’t hit them yet but why when I have a set of 0211 Xcor2s. Also veterans and first responders, I recommend you check out PXG for the simple fact we get a huge discount. That’s including fittings also. Find the closest store and test them. Also the black ops will be cheaper for you as well, if your not grab a buddy and see if they will make a profile for you to use.

  4. I went for a PXG iron fitting last week. I went in there telling the fitter that I was interested in the Black Ops irons (based solely on price). I was swinging the 7 iron around +/- 80 mph. I really wanted the Black Ops but, based upon the data and playing around with different graphite shafts, my numbers were the best with the Gen 7 XP irons.

  5. I have a fairly common miss toward the toe or low (especially on my longer irons), so last year, I put ego aside and bought into the game improvement iron marketing and got some G430s. I had a honeymoon period for a few months, but after a while, I really found myself not enjoying the look or feel, the excess offset, the occasional fliers that would go much longer than they should, and the lack of spin and overall control. This year, I bought a combo set of 770s and 7CBs. Yes, I’m still in the honeymoon phase with them, but wow, the difference is sublime. When you hit a good one, it just puts a smile on your face. Even the not so great ones don’t have near the drop off that marketing would have you believe. I don’t care if my game turns to absolute dog poo, I’ll never go back to game improvement irons.

  6. Had a PXG fitting for irons at their new HO in UK – Gen6 – stuck with them for a few weeks but sold them at a large loss a few weeks back – kept the driver and the wedges but irons second set I have had and sold them both – as did a good mate – both gone back to Mizzies – end of story!

  7. I just got fitted for gen 7 players irons w an xp 4 iron. The size for me are already confidence inspiring (compact but not on the smaller side). I could easily game the black ops but you have to love what you play and for me I prefer the p and xp a little bit more. Also a small tip. Go get fitted. They have a few more shaft options available than show online (which I got a no upcharge shaft that were not available online kbs $ taper)

  8. Andy pxg claim the feel might be better than forged – does that mean you can chip with the short irons or does the ball fly of the face like most other GI irons ?

  9. Andy, I’ve been a fan of yours for quite awhile but I have to agree with others that your sponsorship by PXG is overall a bad move. Sadly I’m going to have to remove my subscription at this point. I do wish you well.

  10. I have the answer for you!

If these companies like PXG and Ping made their Black ops and G irons with low offset (Straight neck) versions, 90% of golfers could and would game them. Anyone that hits a draw can't use these because everything goes left. Communicate to PXG to make a low offset version and they will sell a ton!

  11. Not sure GI irons are for everyone. With a players iron, you'll be punished for poor strikes (not as much as you think), and rewarded for good strikes. With GI irons, you MIGHT be helped on poorer strikes, but you MIGHT be punished on a good strike (fliers). I've found that as you become better with ball striking, GI irons are actually LESS forgiving on front/back dispersion, and players irons become MORE forgiving in that regard. GI improvement irons also tend to be heavily offset – not great if you have a left miss
