  1. This is my mindset – nobody's going to die if I take one more shot to get to the hole, and if it means I hit "all" good shots, then so be it

  2. Hey playa. Been golfing for just over 14 months. Shot 81 a few weeks ago. Toe down chipping has been unbelievably good for my game. Also recently had 28 putts with 10 no 1 putts, only 2 GIR off the tips. Thanks for all your help

  3. Just wanted to say thank you for recommending swing tweaks. I struggled to break 100 since i started playing golf last year, i played 40 or 50 Rounds at least . I gave swing tweaks a try after a particularly bad round and I kid you not a week later I shot a 91 and have consistently broken 100 several times. I definitely have a lot more to learn and I need to work on my putting, but for anyone out there just getting started used swing tweaks and get lessons save the frustration save the money on new clubs.

  4. Did a lot of this today. Played short. An iron instead of hybrid and fairway. Up and down. 6 pars. 3 doubles the rest bogey. Thanks coach. Had an out for par on 75% of the holes.

And played in less than 2 hours. It’s cold in NH. 43 degrees with wind. I got my Playa Badge. Yes sir

  5. Get a lesson and driver you can keep in a play ! I keep having lessons and brought a ping 10k driver with a 1/2 inch off shaft (I’m 6ft) and 12° driver because I still hit down slightly with driver. Fairway finder 😊

  6. Broke 90 for the first time last year. This year had 7 rounds under 90 (with my best round of 81). Appreciate the guidance and course management insight you provide. Oh yeah, and I love my AF66 putter!

  7. I started in april with my wife and my lowest score is 87. My trend is great front 9, bad back 9. 1 round i hit 38 front 9 ended at 91 lol i dont really feel any fatigue. Any advice?

  8. THIS! THIS. IS. THE. VIDEO. I absolutely relate to so many of these points, the cut and paste shot, the trying to hit it as far as possible on a par 5 second shot. Playa has transformed my game, not through swing techniques, but through thoughts. The most important lesson I every got, a long time ago from our Playa in Chief, was 'how good is it being on a golf course with mates, rather than working?' It's the best life.

  9. Hey Matt
I’m an 18 handicapper. Normally shoot 89 to 96 on any given round. Had the Wednesday comp at club today started with a double boggy. But……. Ended up scoring 46 Stableford points which is 79 off the stick. My best score by 3 shots. I stuck to your plans and today everything fell into place.
I’m 51 and looking at retiring to Thailand in about 6 years so hoping to get a round with you

  10. Ok what about 56 degree around green? I’m comfortable with my 56 was thinking to use it for all shots under 100

  11. This was absolutely fantastic! Best video I’ve seen in years. So much good advice crammed into one video instead of 10 minutes talking about 1 thing. Thank you!!

  12. Played like a playa today. Shot 75. Took my medicine when I got into trouble and made stress free bogeys and clutch pars. Attacked easy pins. Always played away from trouble. Heel up chipping for tap ins. Simple game

  13. Just started playing golf. Used to play baseball throughout growing up. Thanks for getting me out of my head trying to hit a home run on every swing I take at the golf ball. Shot a 92 after not being able to break 100 for 3 months.

  14. A guy in the group I played with Sunday asked what my goals were when I take lessons. He was shocked when I told him I focus on short irons. I don't get the obsession with bombing it off the tee. I understand it, but I don't understand the simple dismissal of trouble you are hitting into.

I shot 91 on a par 59 where I walked. I had some bad holes and they were the ones I expected them to be bad (awkward distances, so I end up in trouble short or long). 17 was great though, par 4 and I got a par. I had a bunch of 6s and 7s, but no 8s or higher!

  15. Man I was struggling to break 50/100 for the past year, and now I shot a 44 on 9 holes today on a course I’ve never played before. It feels like I played horrible! I feel like my potential is starting to show itself like I’m getting closer and closer to breaking 80 now. I think golf is just a journey, and we need to accept our scores are going to be all over the place and it’s a loooooong process. We playas must always be students of the game. Even the playa in chief is not a master, he is a student as well: a MASTER student. A good quote from the best teacher I ever had: “I chose to be a teacher because I always wanted to be a student”. I think the wisdom there applies to all aspects of our lives, including golf.

  16. I have had a think about it and I have decided that I am comfortable with the boyfriends being described as gang-bangers.

As everm sage advice for us double digit handicappers. Matty.

I am stuck with North European golf for the next 5 months but in 2025 I will be letting my "what can be golf" be unburdened by my "what has been golf".

  17. If only the cart girl did laugh behind my back, she laughs straight in my face…even before I've made a swing on the first tee. 🤣 Love the content Matty, you've saved me hours on YouTube swing coaching vids.

  18. solid advice, although I'd say players that's don't have a course management plan to reach at least 16 greens of 18 in regulation are still just "training".
