What’s The Difference Between the Takomo 101T and 201 Irons?

The Takomo 101T and 201 Irons are designed for the same group of golfers but that doesn’t mean they are the same.

The Takomo 101T irons are a hollow body cast design that offers more forgiveness and higher ball speeds.

The Takomo 201 irons are a one piece forged design that offers soft feel and more workability like you’d expect from a blade but with the added forgiveness you get from additional perimeter weighting.

  1. First comment!! Takomo please help ya boy out with the Til Death Do us Part Deal. I’m trying to be a Takomo Bro for life!! 😊

  2. I love the look of the clubs and everything you guys are doing when I am in need for a new set of irons I am definitely ordering a set

  3. Enjoyed the video, I’ll definitely be considering Takomo for next set of irons. Do the 101s have stronger lofts? I notice lots of brands are now having 7 irons with lofts around the 30 degree mark

  4. the 101 irons are close too 3 years old now is a replacement in sight because I'm considering a lot buying a set but would be a bit upset if i buy the 101 irons now and a new model comes out 3 months later… but great video as always…

  5. Thinking about upgrading to the 201's next year bc Im hitting the 101's to far and its starting to make my gapping far apart(hitting my 9I 165 carry). I torn between these two I like the 201's but worry about them wearing quick. A lot of tough ground here in Tx

  6. I bought the 201s and absolutely love them. 201s will definitely show wear quicker tho is the only downfall of the 201s. Bought me some head covers for them 🤙🏼

  7. Love it!
Can you do the same test where you spray the ball with water before each shot? Just to see the performance in the wet.
I read somewhere that the sub70 (I think) wedges had an almost 28% drop off in wet conditions, I wonder how that is with these clubs.

  8. I can certainly agree to Tims video. I have owned 101s, 201s, and 101Ts. 201vs101T ; same lofts, same smaller head size. 201s definetly felt softer off the face, but any miss-hit you will feel, and you will know where it hit on the clubface. The 101Ts you can miss-hit pretty badly and still have a decent shot. I switched from the 201s to the 101Ts and very happy I did. I am now a 12.5 HCP and needed a bit more forgiveness and the 101ts have been great. I have over 60 rounds with them and they still look amazing!!! Great video, Takomo irons are great!

  9. The 201s are very similar to my current irons, the Callaway RAZR X forged cavity backs. They are the iron heads used by Jim Furyk to shoot 58 on the PGA Tour. (I didn't know that when I bought them from Callaway pre-owned.) The one difference is, since the Callaways are from 2011, the lofts are a little higher. My guess is the forgiveness is very similar.

  10. I notice you are hitting the same ball on every shot. That is smart – one less variable. This comparison is extremely helpful. It illustrates that, while 'forgiving' irons may be a slight help, the main difference is still the swing. When I need new irons, looks like I order the 201 heads (and reshaft them myself, with either nunchuk or Paderson shafts). My current irons have Paderson shafts. I could just move them to avoid spending money unnecessarily.

  11. I heard something new was coming to Takomo this year.. n this year's almost over.. so what is it.. I'm about to buy some new irons n Takomo 101T are in my top 3.. I don't wanna miss out or get something n wish I waited..
