Pre-owned Irons

Newer player. Been using hand-me-down clubs. I've upgraded my driver and putter so far, both have helped immensely. Wanting to upgrade my irons next. I currently have these Progressive Topline XTRs. Found a used set of PXGs for $319 at my local golf store and it seems like a great deal. Worth it or should I keep looking?

Holy shit steal. I’m a lefty and I’d still buy them if I saw this!

  2. No_Tie_1254

I play the Gen3s and is actually my second set of PXGs. Well worth the price, is a very nice upgrade

Good deal, but what shafts are in them? You’d wanna just make sure they’re not crazy stiff or heavy or something that makes life hard on yourself.

As a man who still uses his Top Flites he bought at 16, BUY THEM

  5. The only thing to consider here is these might not be the most forgiving option for upgrading. But at that price if condition is good you might not get any more bang for your buck.

Yup. They look and feel amazing. I’d be gaming them if I didn’t move to RF Protos.

Those were a $2k set of clubs when launched.

Damn let me know what store and I’ll go buy them now if you don’t.

That’s a great deal. If you don’t get those exact ones make sure and check out PXG express on eBay. Or check out pxg on callawaypreowned. You won’t find those for anywhere near that price though.

  9. If the grooves are okay and the face isn’t rusted to shit, i’d buy

You know you found a good deal when this sub is overwhelmingly telling you to scoop PXGs haha

Can we take a moment to appreciate the old irons having the ° loft stamped on them. Would love to see that again but i guess we’d quickly learn that what was a 7 iron loft no too long ago is now a 5 iron loft…

  12. Smooth-Op-orator

those are not for the weekend hacker thats for sure

  13. badugihowser

Buy them before someone on here beats you to it 🤣

You might want to price check online. I’m not sure, but those look like gen 1,2,or 3, it might still be a good deal for the shape they are in, but you might be able to find a similar set cheaper online. Like they did cost that much new, but it’s definitely an older set, and the markdown is a bit misleading. I was looking at them a few years ago and that seemed like standard used pricing.

Flip em and get fitted? Bring on the downvotes.

  16. UrinalCakeBaker

I’d buy them even if I never played them.

  17. Lightning_fanguy

If the face is in decent shape that’s a great deal! Buy

Just because I can tell that’s either a DSG or GG, ask them to let you hit them in their sim. Preferably bring your current 7 iron from your set with you. Hit both and see the difference. Those look closer to a player distance so might be less forgiving than what you’re looking for but that’s up to you. You only have the two options when going for new irons, forgiveness or distance.

Grab them up .. look and see what shafts they have but you will be ok

I play 0211’s. I liked the feel of the 0311’s better but couldn’t stand all the screws. I just imagined becoming ocd about picking grass out of each screw after each shot.

If you’re a newer player I wouldn’t recommend blades. My buddy thought he’d buy some to start with so he’d get good feedback. He no longer golfs and his 5i is in a pond.

I don’t understand why everyones blowing their load especially without seeing the faces. Depending on face wear and what shafts are in them they’re pretty fairly priced. Don’t overlook grips on a used set either- looking at another 50-100 to regrip if they’re worn. “Save $1640” is very misleading here. Even if I wanted the clubs I’d tell them to eat my shorts just for lying to me

You could buy those and sell to get a more higher handicap friendly set for essentially free.

  24. OneShortBus

I have gen 3’. Definitely buy those at that price! They wonderful and very forgiving

So 25+ years ago my friend’s dad would make clubs as a hobby. Would buy the shafts, clubs, etc and make sets. So he measured me and made me a custom set and only charged for parts.

I bring this up because the set was the exactly the same as your old clubs.

  26. I’d prolly scoop these and I don’t even need new irons 😭

  27. mostlyharmless55

I love my PXGs. Looks like a great buy.

  28. Update: I bought them. It was a Golf Galaxy. Yes they are blades. The gentleman who assisted me informed me that they have a 10 day return window on their pre-owned clubs if I find out I can’t hit them worth a damn and want more forgiving ones.

2nd Swing has a lot of great deals. Had a similar set for sale near me but went with Paradym’s instead.

Def buy, that’s a pretty good price point and those will last you a while.
