  1. Shelton's serve & net play were key in this match. Laver Cup recreates the team environment of college tennis where you play both singles & doubles. You can see how comfortable Shelton is. Between coughs, Sickly Serverev was shading World's return game on the bench. Karma.

  2. Shame Sinner isn’t in Team Europe this year. He has plenty of experience humbling Fritz and Shelton, and a Sincaraz doubles partnership would cook!

  3. shelton's serve bombs really play up in doubles – can't just block it back or it'll get destroyed by the net player.

  4. Alcaraz serve was a bit weak compared to the others, and he was a bit hit n miss with the volleys. Body serves by both Americans at Zverev were very effective. Team world deserved that win.

  5. Doubles is a different animal. Those who don't watch it or even dismiss it don't get how the likes of an Alcaraz/Zverev pairing could lose to one like Shelton/Fritz. It's much the same reason that exceptional doubles teams like Fernandez/Zvereva, Mladenovic/Babos, the Bryan brothers, and Mattek-Sands/Šafářová don't have any top singles players. They dedicated themselves to doubles to go w/ whatever singles play they were in and learned to be elite in that format, w/ elite volleying and understanding the dynamics of it.

  6. This was a lotta fun. Frit/zShelton could be a very formidable doubles team. Shelton's serve must be terrifying to face.

  7. It's so hard to receive leftie serves on the ad side, even harder in doubles. Look at Zverev trying to figure that out on final points of each set. It's either a body serve or the one sliding away with side spin

  8. Laver Cup should be Anglosphere V. World: Fritz, Draper, De Minaur, Auger-Aliassime, Paul, Korda V. Sinner, Zverez, Alcaraz, Medvedez, Rublev, Ruud
