The 2002 Prostitution Raid at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Southern California

Has anyone played the beautiful and affordable course called Hidden Valley in Norco Cali? It is an amazing course tucked in the hills next to Orange County. I came across this article due to a random guy bringing up this raid during the early 2000s. He told me he played in these tourneys and there was sex and drugs at every other hole. Talk about a diff time to be alive lol. The article is hilarious. "Just what I need! what am I going to tell my wife now? 'honey, i am going to the local prostitution ring!'" lol.

I played there last summer visiting family. It was by far the nicest course I have ever played for <$80. My cousin told me about this story, and I thought he was blowing smoke.

Are they uhhh having any more of these tournaments soon?

  3. JaredGolfs93

I grew up in the houses next to that course and I have played it countless times. The course was there before the houses, as I remember. I was only 9 years old when this happened, but I remember the story in the local newspaper, and my parents making jokes about it.

  4. PissdrunxPreme

Love that course. I remember when this happened.

Wasn’t there a Florida sheriff’s department that caught shit for hosting a similar event around the Orlando area in the last 10 years? I believe that one may have involved cocaine as well

I have played there a lot of times. Every time I mention that it’s my favorite course, people reference that story. It’s an absolute gem of a course, and it’s reasonably priced. If you are in the area you should play that or oak quarry.

Sigh…please don’t call it Cali lol

  8. scoreoneforme

Played there a bunch in high school around the time this happened.

My neighbor was the judge who convicted those involved.

the real question is, did the girls come with the green fees?

Hid in trees to conduct surveillance…

    Basically dogging.

Where are the other ones so I can avoid them?

  12. Oh those disgusting golf prostitution tournaments. There’s so many of them though. Which one? Which one is this happening at now?

Would’ve been perfect if the course owner’s name was Harry Cox. 🤣🤣🤣

This was a waterworks industry tournament. I’ve been in waterworks since about 2012 and this still gets brought up just about every time someone mentions playing at Hidden Valley. I live about 40 minutes from the course so it’s a pretty common place to play in my line of work.

  15. It’s okay, price is reasonable. Felt kinda like your typical SoCal billy goat course. Lots of elevated tees/wind and native chaparral awaiting your wayward tee balls

Be careful…I got a bad lie at one of these tournaments and broke my shaft! ⛳️🤣

I lived in Corona near that course when the “incident” happened. Tents set up on multiple holes for taking care of business. I remember watching one news broadcast where they used a low flying chopper over the arrest scene, and you could tell they did not get those working girls from Riverside. Good times!

There’s a nice OC course where these kind of antics still happen once a year

  19. Jengalover

I guess you can get away with these things in a hidden valley

  20. whoohaaah1

Wow this is my favorite course here in the IE given it’s less than $80 (compared to $100+ at Oak and Goose Creek). What a backstory lol.

  21. J-D-Bizzle

I mean, it IS called “hidden valley”….

  22. Desperate_Set_7708

I was *just* thinking about this! News helicopter had video of the drama.

Only thing I could imagine is EVERY guy who played in this tourney had to weather their wife’s wrath

  23. Just played here yesterday. $67 on weekday but the greens were pretty bad. Lots of sand patches, a worker said they were pulling out some type of grass and just filling with sand. Sometimes you had to take relief on the green to putt not through a filled hole. Still worth it for the elevated tee boxes and views though

“If you’re scheduled to play, you’re scheduled to play,” said one anonymous golfer as he zipped up his pants.

  25. It is nice but definitely not next to OC….it’s Norco, in the middle of nowhere with bad weather. The course is fun but the traffic and drive probably isn’t worth it. Unless there is some type of incentive….legal of course.

This is where the great Earl Woods showed his son how to play golf.

Back in the day, there was a course I used to play. There was a gal that worked her trade. Her home was on like the 8th hole and the thing was you would pay her a visit and then catch up to your group on 11th as the tee box was near.

Just kind of go in through the back patio.
It was kind of most regulars knew about it and so did the cops.

She had an honor code refrigerator on the patio as well. Beer and Gatorade. Take whatever and leave the cash in the coffee can.

  28. My friend’s design/build construction firm had a company outing one day. It wasn’t huge or the whole course, maybe 10 or 15 carts of people, so when they signed up for it the course told them that there was another outing that would be going the same day.

It turned out the outing was a local strip club’s golf outing. So all strippers, employees and regulars. Not too much golf was played, but they brought kegs of beer and left them around the course, resulting in some teenagers getting into the keg from the sidewalk, since it’s a muni. And they brought strippers.

Of course, in the spirit of camaraderie, my friend and his work buddies wanted to support the other outing. So they hung out a little, and of course alcohol, golf and strippers happened. It all made the news and I think there were a few arrests and firings – not at the strip club though – and everyone and their companies were all banned forever.

I’ve played this course a handful of times. It’s Norco, not surprised this happened lol. Whenever I play it I’d chuckle a bit having heard this backstory before. The course itself while not always pristine (super drought prone area) is really fun and I think an awesome course. Some people aren’t into big elevation changes ok courses but I always get a kick out of teeing off 300 feet above the fairway.

Are they still having these tournaments and is there one scheduled soon? Have a friend who is interested.

While not common, several golf events across the country used to have a debaucherous edge to them. I don’t know that these were common but it wasn’t super rare for strippers to be at charity events and the like. I remember my home course in the early 2000’s wouldn’t allow a charity event because the tournament organizers were looking for a new course to hold the event. They were known for having strippers at their tourneys.

This stuff wasn’t necessarily okay or acceptable but it’s amazing how much the internet, camera phones, and social media really curbed a lot of the debauchery that used to be relatively common.
