Funny thing is that far and away the worst player in the group I play in hits his driver more than far enough to play from the tips but the rest of his game is so bad. He routinely hits the ball 50-60yds past the rest of us but will get beaten by 10+ strokes every round

On my local muni, you walk in front of the tips box for #10 when you finish on 18. I walked up and there was a group there teeing off that waited for me to clear. As I passed I said ‘Jeez, golf is hard enough without playing from the tips’. The guy teed up said ‘maybe for you’. He then topped it 80 yards into the adjoining fairway.

I was behind a foursome of teenagers yesterday that insisted on playing off the blacks. I was playing off the blacks as well (I’ve played this course for over a decade and have played each set of tees dozens of times) and they were taking two or more shots for every shot I took. When I played through I said they should move up at least one tee box if they can’t hit their driver more than 200 yards, and they seemed offended that I’d even suggest such a thing.

I’m terrible but sometimes I will play the tips if they’re to the left since my driver has a horrible tendency to slice
