Is FORMULA 1 too BRUTAL?

Is F1 the HARSHEST sport in the world? It is no secret that F1 is a brutal sport in many ways but recently we have seen Daniel Ricciardo replaced by Liam Lawson as well as Logan Sargeant replaced by Liam Lawson. This has made many F1 fans wonder whether F1 teams are sometimes too harsh on their drivers. These F1 drivers have a lot of pressure on them, especially when you have young F1 rookies stepping into the car for the first time and are expected to perform almost immediately.

  1. RB doesn’t have a good culture for young/new drivers. Next thing you know if you can’t compete with 3-6 races then you are FIRED! They are very lucky to have two teams to allow them to test their drivers. IMO, RB shouldn’t be able to have this type of an advantage.

  2. The driver is only as good as the car under neath him. Daniel was not given a fair dinkum shot at showing his true ability when the car he was driving was really fighting for only 9th/10th. So did he really do such a bad job. red Bull was scared of losing Liam , what happens when he also fails. Or maybe he will be given a much better car than Daniel was given since he seems to be a fav of marko.

  3. My opinion of the DR situation was if didn't perform then cut him. The issue I see is that the whole reason RB is in F1 is to market the drink brand. The way they handled this situation and other drama could really affect their base business. How long before it devalues the brand and they question the value F1 brings to whole company.

  4. Understand that poor performance can lead to losing a seat,BUT, why don’t the media highlight the failure of the team to manage what they are responsible to do. For example, wrong tyre strategy, bad engineering , poor set up. How about the so called experts illustrate lap times during the race between various drivers and team mates. They highlight mistakes on the track by the driver——get stuck in to the team for their cockups. If you qualify badly because of a team call on strategy, you have no chance of moving up with these cars. How about querying teams as to how much they save on salaries by moving drivers on. Get the new drivers in and you don’t have to pay them as much as an experienced driver.

  5. As of the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix, there have been 777 Formula One drivers from 41 different nationalities who have raced in at least one of the 1,119 FIA World Championship races since the first such event, the 1950 British Grand Prix. Only 34 have won a World Drivers Title.Yes, it is a brutal sport.

  6. Kym * Can you do an episode about Rich Energy Drink ( Haas ) I'm sure you do have footage * We have a break let's go deep onto brutal stuff * Is it true about The Clash farewell tour? ur t shirt suggest dat * London is Calling ; mick jones and paul simonon ( and hopefully Topper Headon )

  7. Don’t see British drivers at the bottom of the grid too often or for long. Food for thought. Thanks Kym 🍻

  8. It’s just dickhead buisness owners who have never been a racer driver for even one day in their life and these dickhead Buisness owners treat drivers as disposable as we witnessed with how they treated Daniel. Of course Redbull don’t want to let Daniel go to another team so they will keep him on a non driver contract

  9. A Senna 24 y/o, A Prost 25 y/o, N Lauda 22 y/o, K Räikkönen 22 y/o, N Mansell 27 y/o, Damon Hill 32 y/o, Graham Hill 29 y/o, M Andretti 28 y/o, M Schumacher 22 y/o
    Jim Clark 24 y/o, M Häkkinen 23 y/o, Jackie Stewart 26 y/o, J Villeneuve 25 y/o, James Hunt 26 y/o, Alan Jones 29 y/o, L Hamilton 22 y/o
All World Champions & quite a few are multiple World Champions. 40+ Drivers Championships between them all.
Today I truly believe that they are starting out their 1st year of F1 way to young. As mentioned, the amount of pressure can be immense

  10. Love The Clash t-shirt ❤ such an iconic photograph, perfectly captures a moment in time.

  11. F1 was brutal for delivery. 2023-24 was the only year when no driver changes occurred. Years since any new drivers. Helmut must have seen Lawson, colapinto and new drivers and said …Christian we need to change drivers. Checko is a dead man walking. Bottas, schuey and? Tine to go home

  12. Kym another spot on VLog buddy, we have so many F2 drivers waiting maybe the FIA and F1 might have to put age caps on drivers, let’s say 30 years old, food for thought hey. Also it must be time for old gumboot head Marko to retire to his spud farm, most of the comments from RB and VCarb are from this dude and they are really
Negative to the sport. Anyway buddy “Trust British Paints” “Sure can” 👍🤩🏎️

  13. It's Cut throat for sure. Kym, can you tell us fans if it's the same for other team staff? Hear about some staff moving teams but do other staff have high turnover?

  14. F1 was always brutal, but it got out of hand with the increasing popularity, selfimportance and with the big bucks. they kill their darlings if they continu this path. Drivers become well trained corporate emplyees if certain drivers leave out of frustration, and this is not good for the sport

  15. Had to pause this video as I had to replace a broken string on my violin. I always add some somber musical accompaniment to illman"s poor F-1 driver pitty-party videos!

  16. Is F1 too brutal? I actually think it got soft! I say that because of the number of "comebacks" on the grid today – this never used to happen, once you were out you were out and only champions could go out, decide to come back and actually manage to get a seat. Ocon, Magnussen, Albon, Hulkenberg, Ricciardo – all non champions who found themselves sidelined but somehow managed to come back – that's a quarter of the grid. It's not brutal at all: I think being too closed-off to new blood and recycling drivers too much is actually brutal on all these boys driving their arses off in F2 with hopes for that F1 call-up. This year was more brutal on us viewers not having a single rookie. The increase in races where all cars finish the race is also a sign of some "lost brutality" as well 😂. It's been happening way more frequently in recent years. It was an extremely rare event in previous years.

  17. The only thing Lawson has to prove is the RB is good, if he can keep up and be faster than Yuki then there is hope, but if he ends up like Daniel and can't keep with Yuki then his time in the RB will be short.
