Miss is Chunk Right or Hook Left

After seeing this video I can see that I'm going too far in my backswing which is pulling my hips and a head forward at the top.

I am very conscious about trying to shorten my backswing and I make great contact when I do.
However, as soon as I'm not thinking about it, I revert to a 110% swing…

Really trying to feel like I'm letting my hands drop and hip rotate at the start of the downswing.

Feel like I'm finally improving my early extension.

Any and all tips, I'm all ears.

You might be different than me but my practice swing is not always my actual golf swing. You might get better feedback from an actual strike.

You have a classic over the top swing. You don’t need to analyze anything you are doing because it’s simply over the top.

If you aren’t seeing a right to left flight. It will never fix what you are doing wrong.

That isn’t a hook. That’s just a dead pull because you are manipulating the face to close it. I can show you if you want what to do but DM me.

It’s important to post swing of u hitting ball, and hands/club position at top of backswing. From this video, u aren’t rotating your chest in backswing, and open clubface in takeaway, over the top in downswing

All practice swings will typically go right because you don’t have to worry about closing the clubface.

Practice swings tell you very little about your regular swing because there is no incentive to square the clubface. You can leave it wide open and nothing bad will happen.

    Yours would go very right.

  5. Swing looks pretty good. I also suffer from the affliction of trying to crank it as hard as I can by means of long backswing lol.

What helps me is feeling grounded in my legs, especially in my left side knee and heel. in turn this gives me feeling of tension which makes it easier to keep my backswing compact (which it looks like yours do loose pressure in my unprofessional opinion). When I don’t, it feels like I swing all in my arms which in turn makes me do a similar move of lifting or picking up the club. I don’t feel as much “tension” like I cant unload as hard and fast as I usually can. In my experience it can help shot dispersion as well while still being able to hit hard and confidently.

Some feels that might help accomplish this would be feeling like your left heel stays planed firm the whole time and/or like there is a ball in between your legs keeping your knees from going closer to each other while still rotating (hope either of these makes sense)

I will say I wrote this in regard to (hopefully) help with more consistent backswing and also in turn, more consistent contact. So in theory if any of this advice does work I would guess it would help the chunk mostly, it may help with the hook and it may not.

I hope some or all of what I wrote makes sense and/or is helpful. If you want any additional help or questions dm me I’d be happy to in any way I can. 🙂
