I played a round once with a financial advisor hoping to win my business. He was putting backspin on the ball just like this. No hole in one but legitimately some of the best golf I’ve seen in my life.
What made this so infuriating: 1. I played inexplicably the worst round since I first picked up a club 2. Despite playing tour level golf, in an attempt to schmooze, he kept very obviously pretending that he was also having a bad round.
To this day I still get mad thinking about it.
