  1. After Brian Lara's final game, he asked the crowd a simple question: "Did I entertain you?" This question captures who Lara was. Like all great players, he had an intense desire for runs..a drive that led to his incredible scores of 375, 400, and 501. But for true fans, Lara's greatness wasn't just about those big numbers. Lara's true magic was in those special moments when he alone could change the course of a match. The 2001 series against Australia is one of the best examples of pure entertainment and skill in cricket history. Lara's brilliance wasn't just in the big matches; he was outstanding even in less famous series where his team often lost badly. Whether he was playing in Sri Lanka, South Africa, Pakistan, or Australia, Lara could take on the best bowlers in the world, especially excelling against spin. What made Lara truly special was how he combined relentless scoring with a style that was beautiful to watch. His batting was like a mix of science and art..each shot was a perfect blend of grace, precision, and timing. Many of his shots are still unmatched in their beauty, even by players who came after him. Often, players with such elegance in their game struggle with consistency, but Lara managed to be both a great player and a stylish one, even while playing for a team that often faced tough times. Interestingly, if Lara hadn't scored his famous 400* and had been dismissed for 0 instead, his career average would have dropped from 52.89 to 51.12 a significant difference. That one innings alone raised his ranking from the 37th to the 25th highest career average. If he had scored a duck, his average would have dropped even further to 50.89.

  2. Isn't batter a term in baseball? In cricket we call them batsmen. Shame you don't know than when you're trying to sound authoritative – it's cringe-making 🙂
