2024 Presidents Cup Preview | The Fried Egg Golf Podcast

Andy Johnson is joined by PGA Tour editorial lead Sean Martin to preview this week’s Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal Golf Club. The two discuss the top storylines heading into the event, including Sahith Theegala’s U.S. team debut, Mike Weir’s course setup, and how the captain’s picks will perform on both sides. Andy and Sean also touch on Scottie Scheffler’s recent struggles in team events and the idea of “designated putters.” To wrap things up, they both share a player on each team that they are most intrigued by and predict the final score come Sunday night.

  1. Royal Montreal is the oldest in North America that still exists – Charleston has the oldest known golf club they played across Harleston Green no longer exists – they can trace it to an article in paper to a meeting in 1786 – there are manifests of golf clubs to Williamsburg from Scotland dating back to 1740s but no known course or organize. club Heritage Tournament gets its name from honoring the original golf society in Charleston

  2. BMW is their flagship event – think it’s a bit more important for points – it’s nothing going London to Montreal

  3. Smartin is 100% correct, Tim's got sold to bankers years ago and has been in a steady decline ever since. It was never great to begin with btw, but it's awful now.
