The Singapore GP Review: Not Without A Fight

Hello everyone and thanks for coming back for another podcast episode. I didn’t think this episode would be entirely in dedication to Daniel Ricciardo at the start of the weekend but here we are. I apologise if at some parts this sounds more like a eulogy but honestly I feel like Daniel fans are in mourning right now. Well aware no announcement has been made as of today but …. let us be dramatic and heartbroken. Hope you enjoy. THANK YOU DANIEL.

  1. Was really badly arranged by Redbull with Daniel. He has struggled with the new cars but he deserved a proper finale. Helmut isn't the most caring of characters. But lets hope we see Daniel in some other series soon.

  2. I love this podcast. Excellent analysis of the Daniel situation. I was at my job at age 30. I suspected I was getting fired for 2 months but then it was made official. It’s was embarrassing. Now imagine the whole Motorsport audience hears these rumors. It’s not fair to an accomplished driver like Daniel. It’s hard enough to see unproven drivers like Sargent and DeVries get fired in mid season.

  3. It would be lose for the sport to see DR3 go, the sport is mostly based on results and thats against him and others..
Looking at how Redbull handles stuff, probbebly the only goal for Daniel was to out preform Yuki.

this season on race results vs Yuki its 9-9.
    Yuki has 22 points
    Daniel 12 points

I really hope we can see more of Daniel if its not in F1, then i hope in other racing classes like V8 supercars (best close racing in the world)

  4. Daniel redbull or bust theory was not realistic and team is not what it was… Alpha Tauri was not even midfield car so no better than McLaren in 21/22… He should try Supercars bring good sponsors Optus sponsor WAU getting Toyota GR in 2026… He was quick on medium strategy of soft was poor medium then hard might have moved him up…

  5. This isn't the last we've seen of Daniel. If Singapore was his last F1 race at the current time, he could return just like Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg made comebacks late in their careers. Even though F1 is Daniel's dream goal, he might consider a one-year drive in IndyCar in the U.S. just to test the waters because he has immense popularity among U.S. fans. Whatever Daniel decides to do in the neat term, he should probably find a competitive drive in some series just to stay sharp.

  6. It's nice to have the emotional impact of the sport highlighted once in a while, we tend to forget that the drivers are people with feelings and not just tools to get the machinery around the track fast. The whole situation felt woefully mishandled by RB and/or the media, the championship this year is full of exciting twists anyway, the media don't need to overcook it narratives and rumours. Let's reserve the drive-to-survive-esque sensationalism for the post-season, Daniel (and Perez, and even Ocon earlier and Logan to an extent) deserve better.

Your anecdote about how you started watching F1 and connected with Daniel reminded me of how I started watching the sport and why I keep watching. Thank you for sharing your thoughts 🙂

  7. I never got the Danny Ric hype, he had his moments, but in all conclusions, he was mid, and your feminizing the male drivers, protection and mental health? If you don't have a strong mind to begin with, you will never have a decent career.

  8. i get it daniel is likable very charismatic also he was genuinely fast, key word "was". yeah maybe from the last 10 races he finished ahead of yuki 6 times out of 10, but he should have dont that from the start of the season, he was given the seat cause RB thought he could be max teammate again cause they didnt believe in yuki they probably never thought of giving yuki the top seat, but still he couldnt out perform yuki. when they had the car that could score points yuki was the one getting those points doing better in quali and races and daniel was nowhere, even last year same thing. now if you were redbull who are you going to keep the young guy who, when it mattered got the job done? or the old guy who is way pass his prime? but if the rb20 was not a shit car daniel would probably finish the season then next year give liam the seat then after a year or mid season if perez still cant perform and liam is doing good then maybe he gets his seat but unlucky for daniel rb20 is shit and rb needs liam for next year so, bye bye i guess. trust me when they actually drop daniel COTA fp1 next month you wont notice hes gone. same thing happened with nico and to think nico won WDC before that, no one would notice daniel not there probably even now hes not in the broadcast that much cause theres nothing to cover.
