Ball positions for different clubs in the bag 🙌

These aren’t necessarily the ball positions that you HAVE to adopt to each club but they are the ball positions that will make your life the easiest and the positions where you’ll find it helps you to strike each one the most consistent..

As a rule of thumb;
– Wedges : just behind the centre of your stance (so that it helps you to hit down on the ball with a steeper angle of attack which will produce more spin and a lower flight
– Short / Mid irons (9,8,7) : centre to maybe just in front of centre slightly (this will give a bit of a better flight than playing it back with the wedges but also make it easier for getting the ball before the turf and still getting a good amount of spin
– Long irons (6,5,4,3) : just in front of centre and maybe creeping further towards your lead foot as the clubs get longer (with the reduce in loft, playing the ball further forward will help to get the ball more air borne)
– Fairway woods : I personally play these just off of the front foot as I prefer to nip the ball off the top of the surface but if you want a more Sergio Garcia approach and even take a divot with them then you’ll find it easier moving the ball further back and more in the long iron position (depending on how much club head speed you can generate to how easily you can get the ball in the air and just what your natural swing looks like whether you’re someone that likes to come in steep or if you prefer to nip it
– Driver : this is one I’d recommend everyone to play off the front foot just off the left heel but is the one that will have the most debate (if you are a natural iron player you will more times than not struggle with the ball being further forward as you have a tendency of hitting down so having the ball further forward will cause you to go straight underneath it.. however I think it is worth persisting with a further forward position as the benefits off playing it at the front highly outweigh the benefits of playing it further back
