  1. The responses from Terry and Rebecca are absolutely weak. It goes to show that these people are not qualified to make any statements on the matter. Rebecca works for the PDGA?? Really? This is why the PDGA is a joke. You want to be a PROFESSIONAL organization? Then act like it.

  2. In reference to the Bud Hill instance, the real issue is where is the PDGA's responsibility with "our" money. There should be an escrow, that is managed by the PDGA, that ensures our funds are not misappropriated.

  3. JFC… why is BS such an alarmist? Let it play out before you go with the scorched earth policy.

  4. So he admitted to essentially running a ponzi scheme. He should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law

  5. Terry should also step down. How can he be a leader in the sport if he supports the person who embezzled 25k from the players? He only came out against it once he felt the backlash. I'll keep playing non sanctioned events but won't be renewing my pdga membership until people are held accountable. Out of character Terry? He said he does it every year.

  6. Hunter's take on the TDs use of tournament funds would have been interesting as he has run events in the past.

  7. Its a shame. I think 20K is excessive. What do most folks think should happen to this guy? I and many other golfers got screwed. Pretty much were robbed earlier this year by CAMM TODD. he did a pre-order for paintings He took alot of folks money

  8. Someone going to file a lawsuit against this joker…pilar or not. The PDGA response is exactly why this sport is stuff in the mud. Ridiculous responses like this to nerds dressing up like jedi knights and spotting using lightsabers. Just embarrassing.

  9. There was a similar one just about as large several years ago, but it wasn't the entry fees of the players for the same tournament. It was the tens of thousands of dollars skimmed off the ams at the huge am tournament that were earmarked as the added cash for the later big pro tournament. The TD commingled the funds in his personal account, had some personal financial set backs, and as quietly as possible, cancelled the pro tournament. The pros were a little miffed but it was never their money. It was just the money that was routinely skimmed off the ams to pay the pros at a subsequent tournament. The PDGA was a little miffed, but no one ever wants to acknowledge that most A-tier added cash is skimmed off the ams at previous and sometimes simultaneous am tournaments. In my opinion this has always been the biggest scandal in disc golf. The sponsors are not on the tournament t-shirt. The sponsors are in the tournament t-shirt.

  10. Dear Brodie,
You clearly do not understand business in even the smallest way. Your strange understanding of a small business bankruptcy and you personal opinions on how Terry reacted are silly. You repeated mentioning of embezzlement makes you come out as a guy with the proffessional understanding of a teenager. Just because its disc golf its not different than other small businesses. It would be super strange for a business to allocate all income to each individual project. That's just not how business works. Obviously you use your income to support yourself and finance the projects you are working on. On a yearly basis that's called a budget….. This year this guys budget blew up, as something suddenly dried up or he couldn't work enough. Thats what happens to any small business that goes down – being a carpenter or a disc golf promoter.
Just because its disc golf it shouldnt be handled any differently – now if the local cinema went down would you call embezzlement towards pre-sold tickets? If a bands front man breaks the jaw and they can't do the concerts and their goes down – would you call it embezzlement with all the presold ticket holders?
Most small businesses that go down owe money – please grow up about this as you know better if you care to remember the perspective.
We are all sorry when a small business goes down and another american dream breaks. I'm glad this guy has friends when internet yellers like you just dig in without thinking….

  11. Same thing happened at the 2020 Bowling Green Amature Championships. Almost 1000 disc golfers lost there whole entry fee. Only a few ever even saw players pack.

  12. Been discing since 96 or 97. Never got a PDGA # because all of the old guys warned me back then about how bad the PDGA was and how I shouldn't throw my money away by giving it to them. I will never give them money!

  13. Change the context.. if this is a politician, a CEO of a large business or some other public figure who admitted to this, there would be huge outrage and legal ramifications

  14. Brodie was way off base on this. If you walk into a police station and admit to a crime, they don’t just handcuff you and throw you and prison. Sure they apprehend you, but then they launch an investigation. The PDGA saying that they need to do their due diligence is a completely reasonable statement.

  15. I believe the playoffs should allow any and all players if they want to sign up. Keeps the prize pools better for everyone and gives people a chance to take down an event. The playoff standings is all that matters…who cares who’s playing in what event. Also when you limit the field of players it decreases the payouts. You could have the top players playing for next to nothing in cash when you decrease the field during the playoffs.

I also would love nothing more than seeing someone on the outside taking down a playoff event. Everyone loves an underdog.

  16. I don’t know the man that ran the masters as a TD. But in today’s world, it is very rare to have a man acknowledge his wrongdoing. And take responsibility for himself.
At least he’s trying to rectify the situation. That says a lot as to his personality.

  17. 27:05 damn, i must admit i have once or twice been drinkking under the influence….. i cant be brodies friend now…. 🙁

  18. Someone else had to know he was doing this. I’d be curious to hear a follow up on this story, after the investigation happens of course. Thanks for getting the word out Brody! Also Silas needs a mic for sure.

  19. You add something to the sport Brodie, but you are not the epitome of a great human
You are not self aware and are not living a life that is geared towards finding deeper levels of compassion
Yes,your opinion is possibly “the most common” amongst people that comment on these things
Unfortunately,if our culture is only geared towards punishment/judgement,no one will be left standing
Terrys point is one you obviously don’t understand
He understands that JRay maybe in a very dark place due to all the hate
I don’t think you’ve been in a similar situation,so you don’t understand how that may feel
Most likely you have lived a life of privilege without big hardships
The reason I’m putting this comment is because you have a decent size viewership and it’s unfortunate that this is what they’ll be consuming
If you’re reading this,I hope you allow yourself to deepen compassion and see the possible downside of our culture shaming people
Don’t you want to live in a world where you feel supported and loved
Do you think the people around you are “optimal” humans
Are you being amazing for te people around you?
Are the people in your life perfect?
Do you really think that he should incur all this hate ?
The culture in disc golf is very close to a microcosm of the US 🙁
That is sad, because it wasn’t always like that
Disc Golf was the “hippy sport”
Very supported and all about good times
Brodie Smith and the commercialized version of disc golf is not as cool:(
I would play a round of golf with JRay
I would not play a round with Brodie
To Brodie disc golf is a job:(

  20. @BrodieSmith @FoundationPodcasts it’s a golf shoe brush stand, or a jobsite boot scrubber, or a Scrusher made by Duluth Trading Co. I bet I could make them, my friend used to make them as well as tons of other stuff and I helped him. Ask Jeff Spring next time you see him and if they want some I know I could make at least 36 of them. It’d be cool if the courses provided them each tee box.
