For decades it was easier because presidents mostly played on courses on military bases. Bush and Obama played a majority of their golf on Andrews AFB and Ft belvoir, with occasional jaunts to Army-Navy (private club, but the membership is almost exclusively retired and current military) or Congressional

It’s not much of a security threat when a POTUS plays an unannounced/sporadic round of golf, at various courses.

No way a gunman is going to camp out at Congressional country club (for example) for weeks at a time on the off chance a POTUS shows up. They’d probably be spotted at some point anyway. And it’s even less of a threat if a POTUS plays one of the dozen military courses in the DC area. The base general would have the entire area swept and patrolled as they have plenty of manpower for that.

But- having a candidate/VIP playing the same civilian course almost every day, like clockwork, makes it a much bigger problem.

The president just shouldn’t play golf

  4. Why not just build a “big beautiful wall” around the course?

president should have to book muni tee times every now and then.

We can build stealth fighters, spend a trillion on military capabilities, but can’t protect the guy who is a coin flip from being in charge? How is this acceptable? It’s clearly not a priority which is crazy
