The WRISTS And CLUB FACE In The Golf Swing

To demonstrate how the wrists work in the golf swing to square the clubface, we’re going to use a tennis racquet. If the golf ball is slicing, the club face is open. If the golf ball is hooking, the club face is closed. Simple! What role for the hands in the golf swing?

How to square the clubface at impact consistently? Glen Haynes shows you the ideal wrist angles at impact to control the clubface. By learning how to hit the golf ball with an open and closed clubface at will, you can develop better feel for the clubface, improve your timing and control the amount of rotation of the clubface.

By employing Aussie Golf Pros’ step-by-step process, you can release the golf club effectively and stop slicing and hooking your driver and your irons. You will drive the golf ball straighter and hit more fairways and greens.

Golf Coaches, Not Teachers

The Aussie Golf Pros are holistic coaches in every sense of the word. Steve and Glen are both fully qualified members of the PGA of Australia and are avid students of the Sports Sciences. Together, they are certified in Advanced Golf Coaching, Golf Psychology, TPI (Body-Swing Connection), NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Personal Development and Skill Acquisition.

Steve and Glen are not ‘Method’ coaches. They recognise that there are literally 1000’s of ways to swing a golf club! Rather than try to ‘change’ your swing, their goal is to help You Be The Best Golfer You Can Be!

Skill Development vs Technical Changes

Although technique is an important factor in improving a golfer’s performance, Skill Development is largely neglected in golf coaching today. Skill is something that can be tangibly improved with proper understanding of the golf impact laws and effective practice towards improved performance.

External Focus of Attention

Most golf teaching involves an internal focus. Common suggestions might include increased hip turn, a still head or improved hand path. These are all factors of the golf swing, which many golfers and teachers consider important. However, as they are focused internally, on movements of the body, golfers find changes extremely difficult to process.

  1. Thank you for this great tip Glenn! During the downswing do you use, the left or right wrist to snap the club?

  2. Excellent video Glen on how to control the clubface in the golf swing! I have always found that a light grip and flexible wrists and forearms allows the club to do its job as designed by the engineers. All that we have to do as players is make sure that our right palm is facing toward the target at impact.

  3. Very good video. My big miss is leaving the club face open and having my hands too far ahead of the ball – I have to constantly make effort to close the face and finish left.

  4. Another great video, Glen! Your consistent philosophy of "differential practice" is so important, given that a lot of us weekend warriors are not going to hit straight shots all the time. Being able to get out of trouble by hitting little fades and draws is critical.
    Keep them coming!

  5. 😄😄 Another great video very well explained and easy to put into action, I've recommended your channel to all my Vet Mates
