Thrift Store Steelheads

Seen lots of fun posts about thrift store finds and tonight was my turn to get lucky. While these clubs are older than a number of members of this group, I remember when these were great clubs.

As a person who only carries a driver and irons I am not sure if they will make it into my bag but my 14 year old may end up using them as well. $30 for them all was a price I couldn’t pass up even for fun at the range.

Crowns and faces are all in great shape. Soles have some wear but who wouldn’t after 20 years.

Those are a steal for sure. Still one of my favorite vintage… yes I said vintage as these are more than 20 years old. Congrats on your find, I am a bit jealous of them.

How is it everyone else’s thrift stores have all sorts of fun stuff and all of the ones around me only have Hammer X drivers that were on fire at one point.

Amazing. I love the shape of those clubs. Felt like I couldn’t miss.

I have a couple wooden woods still in my bag. They fly unbelievably high and spin so much they rip back on the greens (ping eye 2, 5 and 7 wood). And oddly enough I find them easier to hit than modern hybrids.

Those were awesome years ago. Honestly my old steelhead plus 5w was one of my favorite clubs ever.

Classics. I bought a 2 wood last year just for the nostalgia

I’ve had a steelhead 4 for decades. Still just an absolutely dependable club

Still use an original callaway steelhead strong 4 wood. Lovely clubs and still hit some good shots with it. Great find

  9. Kudos from a fellow thrift store digger. It’s all about the hunt and feels good when you score something.

  10. Damn had these when I was a teenager. Wild, enjoy!

I still keep my 3 and 5 wood for a backup backup set. Great shape and hot faces, some of my favorite clubs I’ve had over the years. Good memories, and grats on the find.

That steelhead 9* has been hit probably 20,000 times someone loves that club for a long time

I imagine a Big Bertha 7 wood is about as beginner friendly as it gets

I have the #7 one, fucking love that thing

I had a 3 wood and I loved the way it sounded. Nice grab

I remember these and the og steelheads really felt hot vs other clubs at the time. I bet that 2 wood is still a beast off the deck.

Heh I still rock a steelhead 3 wood. What can I say, I hit the shit out of it. Why change?

I’ve never seen anything in a thrift store here except 1967 Sam Snead blue ridge clubs.
    Great find!

I still play the OG Steelhead 7-wood (reshafted with something modern instead of the RCH99) that is even older than these, great club.

I played a steelhead plus 9° driver with a steel shaft for 18 years. Great club.

No putter? A man of confidence.
