Constant Movement – John Hughes Golf
If you’re someone who stands over the ball too long thinking too much about what you want to do, this video is for you! If you’re a golf who freezes over the ball in a stiff, tight, and uncomfortable stance, this video is for you!
Within this video, John Hughes, PGA Master Professional of Instruction and 2 time NFPGA Teacher/Coach of the Year emphasizes the importance of staying in constant movement as you address and prepare to hit every golf shot. Utilizing the 1st hole of the Highlands Course at McLemore Resort, John shows you how to avoid overthinking and the tension caused by you thinking too much while standing over the golf ball.
As a Golf Digest Magazine Best in State Ranked Instructor and a Golf Tips Magazine Top 25 Instructor, John observes many golfers becoming too rigid and robotic over the ball. In turn, leading to inconsistent shots. Within the video, John advises golfers of all skill levels to complete all their mental preparations behind the ball. And as they address the golf ball, stay in constant motion during their pre-shot routine. John also mentions that top golfers, both male and female, maintain movement through club waggling or foot shifting to find balance. The more fluid your pre-shot routine leads into constant motion while addressing the golf ball, the better!

100% John, thx!
Yes, it's hard to go from statue practice type rigidity to an athletic movement. You see it more with many golfers and not really at all in most other sports. Thanks John.
