The DP World Tour heads to Ireland this week as Royal County Down hosts the Irish Open for the first time in almost a decade. Four-time major winner and world no. 3 Rory McIlroy is in the field for his home event. He’s claimed two individual victories this year with wins at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour in January and the Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA TOUR in May. The Northern Irishman has won this event before after claiming victory at the K Club in 2016. Robert MacIntyre will also be in Ireland this week. The world no. 16 has risen 44 places from 60th at the start of the season. He’s claimed two victories this year with both being on the PGA TOUR – at the RBC Canadian Open and on home soil at the Genesis Scottish Open in July. Both those wins, coupled with three other top tens, helped him reach the season-ending TOUR Championship at East Lake, finishing tied 16th. Shane Lowry will fancy his chances at his home tournament this week. He’s claimed seven top-10s this year including a victory at the Zurich Classic playing alongside Rory McIlroy. Others to look out for are Nicolai Højgaard, Erik Van Rooyen, Ryan Fox and Luke Donald.

  1. The love the Tour have for Rory is ridiculous. For some reason he's made himself the figurehead for both tours but he's not Seve that's for sure. A friend of mine worked on the European Tour for 20 years and said he's quite nasty and demands £1mill appearance fees or he doesn't bother going. The hypocrisy after all his LIV comments is unbelievable

  2. the fact his caddy still has a job is incredible, this guy wont ever win another major with that clown on the bag

  3. he played carefree golf in his youth. fame & pressure are factors which he doesn't have the mental strength to deal with. majors define history. he certainly has the talent to win another major but on the whole it has been very disappointing 10 years for his fans. no bottle

  4. McIlroy needs to go back to the Anser style Scotty putter, he looked much better with that than the mallet. He regularly hits bad putts now which I don't recall with the Scotty. Bob McIntyre in the frame again👊

  5. Shouldn't we get to see other players too? Matteo is having a comeback after years in the wilderness. What happened to 'growing the game'?

  6. Sont méchants ceux qui racontent des bobards par jalousie. Il n’est pas donné à tour le monde d’être un sportif et d’être aimé du public.

  7. I said at last before he hit the putt he would miss it, if his putting was as good as the rest of his game it would be over, it's his weakness.

  8. Rory lines up putt, director cuts to crowd, cuts back as Rory has already struck his putt. WTF?! Inept.

  9. ps the bogshite comments on this thread about putting and caddy are in another universe of nonsense.

  10. His putting is atrocious. If he could fix his putting…what a shame. The rest of his game is not the problem.
