  1. I totally agree with your comments Guys, yet again the USGA screwed up and turned their own tournament into a farce. A Major should be tough, it should test all aspects of the competitors golfing skills, but it has to be FAIR. What happened on Saturday afternoon at Shinnecock Hills was far from fair (for the late starters) and the Back 9 turned into a JOKE, with Phil deliberately hitting a moving Ball. Poor Tommy Fleetwood lost 8 shots to Par on Saturday and may well have won his first Major without the unplayable Pin placements and afternoon conditions.
The USGA need to look at themselves and hopefully learn from the R&A who will set up the difficult Carnoustie (or Carnastie as the locals call it) for The Open as a tough but FAIR test of the golfers abilities.

  2. USGA made a very entertaining golf course for the viewers but the players complained and the media was on a mission to attack the USGA instead of enjoying the excitement and chaos that ensued.
Unfortunately the 4th round setup was not nearly as fun to watch.

  3. The USGA is run by a bunch of rich guys who buy themselves a seat at the table and think because they understand the Bond markets, that it makes them experts at everything else….while wielding a 16 handicap…and Mike Davis finally gets to be the man and he cant say so no to the adornment….

  4. Shinnecock is one of the best golf courses in the world, and should and will continue to host US Opens. I do agree with these guys, though. They lost the golf course, and then overcompensated on Sunday, which was unfortunate. Shinnecock doesn’t have to be crazy long to play difficult. If you have fairways that are 25 yards wide with thick rough and firm greens, you can have a US Open at Shinnecock on a course that is barely over 7,000 yards. I also love the comments about Merion, because Merion was a fantastic setup and also is one of the best golf courses in the world.

  5. I was there. I volunteered with the Maintenance Staff. I double cut #2 and #17 greens once in the morning and also in the evening. At no time did it feel like we lost the course. The superintendent, John, is a smart and capable guy and the product he put out each day was incredible. I still consider it one of the best experiences of my life.

  6. This shit makes golf look bad. Could you imagine in any other sport people complaining that the game was too hard one week? I could whine all day about how NCAA has lost football because Alabama is too hard to beat. Makes sense that these are Canadians crying about it

  7. Having played amateur golf all my life and worked in tournaments I can tell you that if there is a course setup where the pro has a possibility of being embarrassed then they are going to whine. There were players every day at this course who were under par, that is what is supposed to happen. The US Open should not be setup like the Phoenix Open for a 29 under par tournament. Pro golfers have become some of the biggest prima donnas in the sports world who get treated like royalty each week and it shows.

  8. They didn’t do either one the players are babies with big egos. It’s entertaining to watch players have to hit legitimate good shots to make birdies and struggle at times to make pars it’s one week a year suck it up and stop crying.
