So I am redoing my outside setup. I finally got a skytrak and a 10x10x10 cage. I was hitting off this cheap turf but was getting soar. I’ve since bought an sig pro softy strip. I am seeing if anyone has a recommendation on how flush I should make the softy.
Is it best for me to make the grass flush between the softy and the existing turf? This would mean somehow cutting into the deck to make a drop in for the strip or raising the turf up.
My two questions are: 1) do I need to make the turf and hitting strip flush? 2) would you raise up the turf or cut into the would to make an insert for the strip to be lower?
Any recommendation from someone who solved the same would be appreciated. Thanks.

It needs to be flush with the mat unless you want to practice hitting balls above your feet. Get some gym mat material under your stance mat or get a nicer stance mat with some built in pile height and cushion.
It would be a pain in the ass to cut out an insert for the wood right? If I did cut the insert it probably wouldn’t have to problem sliding or moving. If I just raise up the mat I would have to raise the skytrak. Maybe just do a bit of both.
Build a ground level frame out of 2” x 2” lumber. Inside of your frame double up 3/4” puzzle piece exercise mats. Put your outdoor carpet on top of that. It should make this perfectly level. This is how I’m doing my current build.
