The Garmin Approach R10 portable golf launch monitor uses radar to analyze several metrics like your club path, launch angle, ball speed, and estimated distances and direction. It does not use GPS, but based on its placement to the ground, it will be able to provide shot data without GPS data or elevation information. The accuracy for the radar metrics are outlined below.

Garmin R10 Radar Accuracy

Measured by radar

Club head speed accuracy: +/- 3 mph
Ball speed accuracy: +/- 1 mph
Launch angle accuracy: +/- 1 degree
Launch direction accuracy: +/- 1 degree

Calculated by algorithm

Club face angle accuracy: +/- 2 degrees
Apex height accuracy: +/- 5 feet
Carry distance accuracy: +/- 5 yards

The accuracy depends on proper placement of the Approach R10.

Fine-tune your game

With the Garmin Approach R10’s new Training Mode feature, golfers can track stats for each club and easily break down a slick shot dispersion chart based on estimated ball flight.1 Once training is out of the way, users can take their game worldwide with the Home Tee Hero simulator and enjoy friendly weekly tournaments with all the scores posted to a leaderboard on the Garmin Golf app.2 What’s more, automatically recorded video clips showing real stats overlaid on each shot can be stored in the cloud so golfers can see and analyze their own swing.

And with the introduction of the Garmin Golf app premium membership, Garmin Approach R10 owners can take advantage of a free 30-day trial to virtually test out courses before a trip or courses close to home with the Home Tee Hero golf simulator. In addition, premium members receive access to weekly tournaments that offer a new random course every week. The Garmin R10 also provides direct compatibility with the E6 CONNECT library3 of content with photorealistic courses that can be played at any time to enhance the overall golfing experience.

The Garmin R10 includes a versatile phone mount that golfers can easily attach to a golf bag or place on the ground as a kickstand to improve viewing during play and accessibility with the Garmin Golf app. And with up to 10 hours of battery life, golfers can play longer with the Approach R10. 1. If I buy the e6 license deal for my r10, if I upgrade to a mevo plus or nicer LM can I bring by paid for e6 with me??

  2. Great video. Is there away to change perimeters on the driving range? Can it show club path, open or closed club face, things like that, like Garmin r10 range shows. Thanks

  3. Can you comment on how well it measures poor shots? You hit pretty good shots each time in this video and I'm wondering if the unit is forgiving, or if it's accurate on poor shots. I mean like a slice or hook, chunk or bladed ball.

  4. On your pitching wedge shot that went long you had 9i selected on e6 … if you don't change those clubs in e6 it will read longer regardless of the SIM you're using

  5. Could you do a video or explain your set up (projector, screen, etc)? I am going to order the R10 and would love a setup like you have in this video. Could I use a Macbook Pro instead of an iPad? Thanks very much!

  6. How far are you hitting from the impact screen? I’m building one right now just trying to get ideas.

  7. I just subscribed and very much enjoyed your video on the E6. One thing I like is how quiet your impact screen is. Sorry if it’s been asked but do you have a link to it please ? Thanks for all your great content.

  8. Great video. Thank you. What is the size of your impact screen – and which projector are you using – visually looks really good.

  9. Just got mine and ran E6… I'm finding that anything from the toe area absolutely crushes my launch that it reads. Hit a somewhat toey 5i and it said it launched 9* and went 150 yards…I know that shot goes much further IRL. Could it be a set up issue?

  10. Thanks for the video. Just set up my golf sim with the garmin r10 and a Carl's Place enclosure. Using my iPad for now. Question. Is there any way to view my round history, including all players' scores? Logged unto my E6 portal and I only see my stats. Hmmmm.

  11. How many players can play a course at the same time on this version of E6? And does that number change for the paid subscription? I’m looking for iOS software that can have up to 8 players at a time, not sure if there’s anything out there that ticks this box though. Thanks.

  12. Your numbers so far off could be to do with your app thinks you’re hitting a 8i when you’re hitting a 9i cause you never selected the correct club. More user error that unit error

  13. Will the graphics of the E6 get pixelated when you use a projector?

Im using the ipad now and its quite ok. Im worried using the projector would make it blurry or something.
