First off, driver does not require forward shaft lean at address. You’re just de-lofting the club when you do this and making it harder to hit up on the ball. With a driver’s length and flex, your hands will be ahead of the club-head at any reasonable swing speed, creating natural “shaft lean” as the club flexes out.

Second, notice that when you make this shaft lean in your setup, you’re also putting the majority of your weight on your front foot. You then de-load the front foot abruptly as part of your backswing, inviting instability. It’s fine to cock the knee, but you’re keeping a ton of weight on the front as you cock the knee. You can be 50/50 at address with driver. When you make your swing from the top of your backswing, you should feel the power initiate from the instep of the back foot and drive forward into the heel or your front foot.

Think of it like throwing water from a bucket to douse flames. You don’t stand on the front foot with the weight of the water behind you and try to “pull” the bucket through. You instead transition your weight from your back foot to the front as you swing the bucket with your body momentum. Weight distribution in golf is much the same as this.

Lotta swing thoughts happening at address. See the shot hit the shot.

If you’re attempting to saw through the teebox, I recommend something with teeth on it. Drivers are typically too smooth and rounded.

  6. foot work is as messy as the crocs you are wearing. be still. settle the f down. be still and breathe.
