I broke the proshop window this weekend.

So crazy freak occurrence from a round I played this past weekend. On the 1st tee which is a par 5. I hit an absolute piss missile drive 3 feet off the ground. 30-40 yards away, it hits the metal post of a bench by the forward tees perfectly square.

My ball bounces back just as hard, hits the hill of the tee box and ramps right into the window of the proshop to my left. Thank God they had a 2nd pane of plexiglass inside or the worker would have gotten a glass shower. The rest of my round didn't fare much better after that.

How did this play out after the smash?
Everyone just chuckle about it or was there discussion of blame/liability?

Cant imagine there was but it might be a good learning experience for the rest of us

I’ve been working inside the proshop when the window was broken. Scared the absolute shit out of me.

    Don’t build a pro shop on a golf course….

Must have taken out the power washer last year.

Cut that ball in half and frame it!

It was a 325 yard drive. Afterwards I went right in there and let everybody know it was me. I have also let every person I’ve crossed paths with know it was me too. I asked them if I could keep the shards of glass as a memento.

Go in and ask Bill Murray about his unique turf. He’ll let you play through.

I missed one by about a foot a couple of years ago. I asked the guy if it had ever happened before- he said no.

Excuse me, have you seen my baseball?

Glad they were cool and light hearted about it!

Plus, no matter how many signs courses post, golfers are NOT actually legally responsible for damage unless the shot is in malice.

Much more rare than a hole in one

  15. Reminds me of when I accidentally lasered the clubhouse instead of the 18th flag. Shot a perfect 5W into the side of the clubhouse. Yes, I suck at estimating distances.

Is that a mobile home trailer pro shop 😂

I joined a private club about three years ago after hemming and hawing about it. I was so hyped after I finally pulled the trigger and I was positively vibrating with excitement for my first round. I hit the clubhouse twice off the first tee box.

My old course had a fucked up window from a similar occurence that they taped up or did some sort of temporary fix.

Upon asking the guy what happened one day he just said,

    “This shit aint for everyone”

I read all that but all I’m hearing is that the pro shop window is 90 degrees to the tee box.

When I was growing up I lived on the outskirts of town surrounded by a corn field and a timber. On the north side of the property about 100 yards from my front yard, there was a glass shop where they fixed and installed windows/ screens, etc. I used to always hit balls into the timber and field, but sometimes I’d get tired losing so many balls, so I’d aim towards the glass shop. I’d try to either hit it down the road in front of the shop, or hit it over the shop. Me being 10-12 years old, my aim or strike wasn’t always the best. There were two regular sized windows on either corner of the back of the shop that faced me, and of course it was a matter of time before I smoked one and left a huge hole in the window. I instantly threw the club down and ran inside lol. I stopped hitting towards it for quite a while, and never got questioned about the broken window.

Insurance is the oddest part of the game.

Did you play it as it lies? Get relief from immovable object?
    Was it a Titleist?
