The 2024 US Open main draw runs from August 26 – September 8 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 144th time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Last year, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and United States’ Coco Gauff claimed the men’s and women’s singles titles. It was Djokovic’s 24th Grand Slam title and Gauff’s first Grand Slam title. This year, at the US Open, we’re set for another spectacular tournament as the world’s best tennis players head to New York. In his current form, Diego just doesn't really have any weapons against Monfils who can just bring every ball back.

It's not obvious at all when you watch them play but Monfils is 5 years older than Schwartzman. Monfils is still playing at a high level on the main tour while Schwartzman must play qualifiers now. Maybe Schwartzman can still play well on clay but not so much on hard courts, even slow ones like the ones at the US Open.

So Diago has played for 20 years and this was his last match at the US open, yet you couldn’t spare more than one second to show us if it was a warm handshake between two beloved players…Very annoying, they both deserve more respect from the editor.
Yes on hard courts this has to be the result. Gael making a strong run in his final years it's great to see that.
