Effortless golf swing to Compress irons and How to hit Hit irons solid with Shaft Lean At Impact.
The Best Way to Compress the Golf Ball
Why practicing thinning the golf ball is how you get better compression
Thin it with a divot.
When most try to compress the ball they try to hit more down and deplete the clubs. The results on fat low shots or a last second compensation to not fat it and to add loft then they thin it.
Instead, thin the golf ball on purpose. If you’ve seen a picture of tigers wear pattern you’ll see it’s very low on the face, most would agree he compressed the ball better than anyone ever has, people say it sounded different when he was hitting, even if you closed you eyes you could tell when tiger was hitting vs anyone else. He could also hit the ball very high.
How can you compress the ball if you hit it high?
Compression happens when you make clean solid contact, it’s not something you should force. When golfers try to compress it they deloft the club, take too much divot and often fat it. Delofting and trying to compress the shot makes you hit too high in the face, it doesn’t give that clean/crisp sound.
The ultimate drill to learn how to compress the ball is to learn to thin the golf shot in purpose and then learn to take a divot while thinning the shot.
Don’t thin it by lifting up through the shot, but thin it by trying to hover your club in the middle of the ball.
Once you’ve learned how to hit a solid thin then try to do the same thing and take a divot just after.
To take a divot after the ball you have to be hitting down, if you try to thin the ball and then take a divot just after it will not be a thin, you will hit low in the face like tiger. The sweet spot on an iron. This will lower the launch, so you may want to try hitting a high thin with a divot. This is where ultimate compression is found.
Start with a wedge or short iron. Then go to a 7 irons
But let’s do it with an effortless golf swing and get shaft lean at impact to strike irons solid and improve ball striking. You can get natural shaft lean and learn how to strike irons better without having to rotate the body or force the shaft lean at impact.

Very interesting approach. My miss is a thin. Now I have hope. Lol
I have struggled all year with ball striking, compression. I can't hit any iron over 100 yards right now.
