You said you were due to play Hillside a couple of weeks ago. If you're playing more on the Golf Coast try Caldy on the Wirral, a great course.

Loved playing here, probably only just in the top 5 courses I've played though
Played there about 5 years ago in seniors open and it was £50 each which is a lot of money for a seniors open but excellent value and as you say superb course, since it has held the British Masters price has shot up to £210 per pair far to expensive for me now

I hope you get round to playing Birkdale 2 i no it’s expensive but it’s right at the top of my bucket list. Hillside is also on there looks amazing might have to hit iron off every tee tho 😆
Hillside is on our list to play, but not this year, this year is Royal Liverpool, Formby & Formby Ladies, the area has a lot of Top 100 courses.

Hillside is good enough to host an Open, but yes, just not enough room for the additional infrastructure/amenities that are now mandatory at major championships.
Looks like fun to play there Gaz. You'll need every aspect of your game to get round that course.
The one part of the British game I miss the most is running a ball onto the green from almost any distance, here in the US it's all target golf (High carry shots) which in my opinion has ruined the game for the young golfers…
