No A wedge / options

Hey guys, quick question:

I play titlest T10 AP2s.

I have a pitching wedge (not sure the degree loft)

And then my next club is 53, 56, and 60 (Vokey)

Would you recommend getting a wedge for in between my pitching wedge and 53?

I don’t have distances precisely dialed in yet, but it does feel like there’s zone between PW and 53 that’s awkward for me. Is there a club that you recommend to fill it?

Edit: never mind? The PW loft is 47^ so maybe I just need to really do my wedge matrix?

Bend the 53 to 51 maybe. Adding a wedge would be way too much

  2. Looks like your PW is 47, so you could go down from 53 to 50-52, but not sure how big your yardage gap currently is. Personally I play 45 (PW), 50, 54, and carry a 60 that I rarely use and that seems to give me a solid 10-15 yard different with my 80% swings on each.

    My wedges are 50, 54, 58. Since you already have a 56 and 60, I’d recommend a 52 (or 50)

    Right now your wedges are:
    47-53-56-60

That means you’ve got gaps of 6*-3*-4*

Bending your 53 to 52 would give you more consistent gaps of 5*-4*-4*

This is generic advice though, and would depend on whether you hit your 53 and 56 too close to each other and therefore making them redundant in your bag.

    I wouldn’t add a 5th wedge.

I was playing 712 AP2s until recently when I swapped to Srixon Z785s and a Cleveland wedge setup – I was playing the PW 1° strong at 46, and then went with 50, 55 (54 1° weak), 60 Vokeys.

I don’t think you need an extra wedge but you might benefit from some loft adjustments throughout your wedges to make the gapping a bit more linear (and save some money vs buying another wedge to adjust your gapping).

I wouldn’t carry more than 4 wedges. that 53 is basically an A wedge but if you have a gapping problem I’d replace the 53 with something between 50-52.

I think my PW is 48 but it’s part of my iron set. I carry a 50,54,58 but the gapping doesn’t really matter to me since I hardly ever hit those full.

I normally just hit my PW from 140 down to like 120 then hit my 50 or 52 from there down to like 30yd depending on the shot I want.

Don’t feed one. If you have too big of a gap from pw to 53, chip your pw

I’ve also got a weird spot between my PW and 56. I tried getting a 52 but it didn’t really help. I learned to hit a Knockdown with my PW and I’ve had much more success with it. The more different types of shots I learn to hit with my PW, the better I’ve been from about 150 in. Just my own personal experience.

You want a 50-52 to REPLACE the 53.

That 53 is a weird club halfway between a SW and GW/AW.
