Pretty sure you just replace the ball w/ no penalty. Bird man DID NOT buddy to putt that out, great composure under pressure.

  2. Reiji806

You have to hit it from wherever that bird took it.

Ball: “Male seeking male in Meltdown City”

Bird: Don’t mind if I do *yoink*

We’re going to need to find someone who specializes in bird law

  5. onionbreath97

Moved by outside force = replace with no penalty

  6. cyberbro256

Pass interference. 15 yd penalty. First down.

  7. TiredofcraponFOX

He probably has a stand set up on the next hole to sell the ball back to you

  8. I had a snake on the green next to my ball once. My ruling was, that’s good.

Had this happen to me a couple weeks ago. Landed about 30-40 feet from the pin, hawk swooped in and grabbed my ball and carried it 50 yards away

I was told you replace the ball as close to where you think it was as possible

I wish I took a pic but I was laughing too hard. Two days ago I hit a ball on the green, a fox ran up to it and took a shit right on the ball. Couldn’t make this up if I tried. IDK what the fox ate, but it was nasty. Needless to say, I left the ball and dropped a new one a few feet away.

Plot Twist: Pro Shop trained a hawk to steal ProVs. Resells em

Play it where it lies. I hit the ball off of Frankenstein’s fat foot. Those are the rules.

  13. CanadianGoku33

Play it where it lies. I had to hit it off of Frankensteins fat foot.

  14. redsoxfan_goboston

I called Scotty and he confirmed…You have to play it where the bird eventually drops it.

  15. white_tee_shirt

    Yeah, but r/birdsarentreal

    Who do you work for?

  16. There was a duck or goose at one of my local courses that spent a summer trying to hatch a ball

In hindsight, you could have approached the hawk from behind. It’s possible this would have steered him more in the direction of the pin where he potentially could have dropped the ball in the hole.

As someone that professionalizes in bird law, I can confirm this is an eagle, however; By declaration of an alpha like swipe with no fear, the eagle is declaring albatross behavior, declaring your shot -3.

I was at Chambers Bay a few years ago and shanked a ball in one of their monstrous traps. A coyote came up, stole the ball, ran like 100ft away and buried it in a scrub grass patch in another bunker.

The course marshall saw it, laughed, said “yeah, she does that quite a bit”, and told me to just take a free drop someplace close to where we thought it was hidden.

Are you allowed to shoot it? do you guys take guns to the golfcourse?

  21. MrxRubin

What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird’s back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? ‘Cause that’s how I’m gonna play it.

  22. caesartweezer

He has to play it as it lies, right Doug?

  23. skeiaann

Happy had to hit it off Frankenstein’s fat foot so play it as it is!

  24. Rule 9.6

Ball Lifted or Moved by Outside Influence

If it is known or virtually certain that an outside influence (including another player in stroke play or another ball) lifted or moved a player’s ball at rest:
    There is no penalty, and
The ball must be replaced on its original spot (which if not known must be estimated) (see
    Rule 14.2).
This applies whether or not the player’s ball has been found.

  25. Ryd-Er-Die223

You gotta track it down and play it where it lies…but remember, if it takes longer than 5 minutes it’s a 1 stroke penalty

I had a big red tail swoop down and absolutely murk a squirrel beside the green last week … it was like 20ft beside me while lining up a putt .. funny thing was I told the squirrel that was sitting there he better watch out for the hawk and 5 mins later he was supper.. ol hawk grabbed him by the neck and squeezed the life out of him … it was wild to get to see so close
