How much have Golf Clubs and Balls REALLY Improved in 36 years!? 🤔 #golf

Are Golf Clubs and Golf Balls really getting that much better?

Every year, golf club manufacturers keep telling us their new driver is 10 yards longer, their new Golf Balls fly 10 yards further, but the maths don’t seem to add up?…

In todays vlog we’re going to find out the real differences between golf clubs and golf balls with nearly a 40 year age gap!

Does a new TaylorMade Qi10 make that much difference compared to an older driver? Or is at all clever marketing by the guys at TaylorMade, Callaway and Ping etc?

Will the new ProV1 really fly that much further than an older golf ball? Do we need the golf ball rollback that is scheduled to be introduced to make golf courses more challenging?

Come and Join Master Club Fitter and Builder SAM SMITH and I at Horsley Lodge Golf Club for a 6 hole play vlog match!

  1. I really like seeing what will premiere next. Makes it easier to find what I am looking for when it is released, amongst the sea of hundreds of subs 🫢. Gary, your channel is going from strength to strength x

  2. One of the first set of clubs I bought, straight off the shelf not fitting then. used to hit them really well and long. Remember finding a Maxfli on the golf course and decided when I could afford them to buy and play with these balls they were really quite good.

  3. My old Mizuno MP57 5 iron goes the same distance as my Callaway Apex 7 iron, with a lower ball flight and is miles less forgiving. Just makes no sense to me amateurs using anything that's not super-forgiving. Lofts are irrelevant: if you get a set of irons, you'll obviously have all the loft options you need! I think the balls are a much bigger advance. I held on to a sleeve of Precepts from 2001 for about 15 years (I liked the aesthetic, and the 22 numbering). I used the Precepts in about 2017 and they're like hitting marbes compared to a Pro v1.
