Very new to golf. Bought this set of second hand clubs. Paid £60. Woundering if they’re a good start?

Also if there is anything im missing and recommendations. Thanks

£60 is good, probably a better putter is where I would start, you can get a cheap odyssey or ping anser putter off eBay pretty cheap, but decent enough for £60

Perfect start, but invest in some ear plugs. That driver creates some decibels.

Honestly, this is a fantastic starter set for $60 depending on the shafts. I would double check them to make sure that they aren’t too weak or too stiff for you. As its already been mentioned, the putter would be one of the first clubs to upgrade.

If you’re new, clubs don’t really matter. Striking the ball consistently will be your biggest challenge, whether you have Walmart Wilsons or the latest TaylorMades.

Good price. A few too many clubs. There might be some overlap in those fairway woods & hybrids. Find the ones you hit best and chuck the others.

The quality of clubs don’t matter at this stage. Get going and you can always get better clubs as and when your game progresses to a level.

17 clubs for £60 plus a bag. That is a great deal. I’d recommend taking many clubs out of the bag and carrying 7 or 8 clubs. Don’t force unnecessary decisions. Just go out hit some balls, and have fun!

For the price you paid that’s a great set to get into the game.

My advice would be to consider trimming down the number of clubs between the driver and the 6i. I don’t see the advantage of a beginner carrying 3 hybrids, 2 woods, and 3 long irons. I can easily see that becoming a problem though.

You’ll love those black cats I have a set still, super forgiving if it wasn’t for the distance lose compared to new irons I would still be playing them.

16 year old me would want those Lynx clubs so bad! Cool set. Good deal for the most part!

Looks like a solid starter set. Enjoy the game.

Personally, I’d probably start, with just playing with the putter, driver (even if you struggle with it, it’s a club worth practicing), a 3 or 4 hybrid, and pretend the 3 and 4 (maybe even 5) irons don’t exist until you are striking the ball consistently. For beginners, the hybrids and 7 iron will be your best friends.

I wouldn’t upgrade anything until you’re making solid contact (even the putter)

Decent set to learn with, but that series of driver is known to be LOUD. Especially the square shaped one (that isn’t it).

Just glancing at it, there’s a few random hybrids that may not fit the set well, but it’s good to pick one you like and learn to use it. Don’t ever use the regular irons below about a 5. The 4i and 3i will be stupid difficult to use. Just leave them at home and use the hybrids instead.

That’s more than enough! Get you some used balls and you’re good to go! What a flex it would be to break 100 with these versus that dude who spent $1.2k on a new set!

    Have fun!

Note to you my buddy. 3-5 irons don’t use till you have a pretty decent swing (chunks and tops maybe once every ten swings). Those baby’s are rough and can discourage you very fast. 180+ yards easy swing a 5 wood. I just barely got my 5 iron down and I’m maybe 8 months in. Welcome to the sport 😀

  15. Nike Driver is always a win. Welcome to the Club!

  16. PerritoMasNasty

Well you got the Sasquatch so you are set.

  17. Kagevjijon

Good start for sure. Driver alone is probably worth that.

Love the Nike SQ driver….the sound is legendary

    You’re in good hands. When I started 4 years ago I bought a set with no 6 & 7 iron 😂

  21. lzezima34

That driver was my first driver as well, it’s so loud but it sounds so good

  22. Professoring8008s

Damn I loved my black cats. First time I broke 70 was with those bad boys. Full set at 60, great job.

  23. Original_Writing_539

I had that driver. I had that steelhead. I had those irons. All good at the time I used them.

Is “woundering” like “favourite,” or “flavour?”

I know it’s off topic but also everyone is woundering.

  25. Mr-JDogg

The driver is worth the 60 on its own. That’s a good deal.

  26. thecrispyb

That callaway steelhead is still in my bag today! Surprising forgiveness on it

  27. Mr_Paleblood

Yep, great start. Play them get used to the game thing slowly upgrade. Welcome to the game.

I had a set of those Black Cats back in the day .. (1997). Bought because Freddy played Lynx 😎

Gaming my SQ Sumo this afternoon. Great find!

  30. Rock solid start. Especially those woods you’re going to be able to learn really well on these. You even keep that rescue for the next 10+ years

Also that driver sounds insane. Probably the best reaction of all time was smashing this at the driving range.

  31. binchbunches

You will definitely be able to play with those.
