  1. Always use to love watching him stick it to the Aussies at a time when the Ashes was such a one-sided affair.

  2. It makes you also want to reflect on just how privileged England were to have such a quality group, and thorpe arguably the best.

  3. Rip Thorpe.
After Aussie cricketer Shane Warne,s sudden demise. This is 2nd dramatic loss of a key cricketer.
If you are a vintage Cricket fan you surely know this man.
During mid and late 90,s England was not a strong team. Those days England was an average team. But Graham thorpe was not an easy guy to give his wicket. He was a true hard competitor of that weak English side those days. He set the standards of batting in that phenomenal era. Cricket fraternity will surely miss this gem.
    Condolence from Pakistan

  4. I'm in tears watching the videos god bless graham n his family have my own battles with mental illness n can be v v tough

  5. I’ve only just found out by watching the news
    Wow that’s so so sad
I’m not going to lie- he used to do my head in when he played the windies cos he always punished them, I was only into cricket because my father used to have it on the TV whenever a match was on so we all had to watch it
    RIP ❤😢

  6. ……He suffered from severe clinical depression which is an illness. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Researchers have done MRI scans and a depressed brain the image looks different from a normal brain scan. You cannot fight this thing.
You need to be under the care of a Doctor and it is life threatening. Being severely depressed can lead to serious symptoms including psychosis and suicidal thinking. If he had a psychotic episode he probably did not even know what was going on when he killed himself. It has nothing to do with will power or how strong your character is. The actor Robin Williams also had depression and killed himself. Unsurprisingly, the more severe the depression symptoms the more likely the person is at risk for suicide. When the disorder is at its most severe, people with depression may even experience psychosis—seeing or hearing things that aren’t there. In Graham Thorpe's case he tried many different medications and the Doctors could not find anything that woud work on him. I suggest people read up on clinical depression. It is not feeling down or depressed.
It is in your brain. There is a chemical imbalance that effects your thinking and actions. It does not matter how strong a person you are. You cannot fight this. You need the right drug to correct your brain's chemistry. I live in Canada and do not even know who Graham Thorpe was or the game of cricket. But I do know what severe clinical depression is.
And this man never had a chance without the right medicine. …..

  7. The stance with which Graham Thorpe used to come to bat was a clear message for his all. 'Don't worry , I am here.' I remember that old match when the top order was down battling mighty west indies side, Graham was cool as a cucumber and won the match fir England. RIP Legend Graham Thorpe

  8. Three more guys talking NOW. Where were they for the past five years? He helped all of you while you were shitting yourselves as new players and you weren't sure about making it – he was there for you. Where were you guys when he needed you??????????

  9. "Friends that you make away form the game – even when you don't see them for a long time" – guilt. Maybe you guys should have made more effort for the last five years. Sending love to the family is disgusting when you haven't shown any for the last five years.

  10. A truly magnificent left handed batsman , who in his time came up against some of the true legendary bowlers of all time ….Akram , Magrath ,Warne ,Ambrose , Waqar Younis , Donald ..home & away ,yet he still finished his career with an excellent average ….

  11. It’s strange how you can instantly warm to some people. Only new him through his exploits of cricket, but he always appeared to be that guy you’d want as a best mate. Many of us only knew of him through cricket, but we are all greatly saddened by his passing🙏😢RIP Graham Thorpe👌

  12. Good of these pundits to send their commiserations to the Train driver and his family who will be haunted by this for the rest of their lives.
Oh sorry they didn't even consider this side… apparently the little people don't count.

  13. Genuinely gutted about Thorpes passing. He was a class act with impeccable technique, and seeing replays of his hook shot takes me back to my own cricket playing days and watching England bat in the club house.
Him and Trescothick were always my favourite England players.

  14. Wow I'm sitting here crying my eyes out what a moving piece that was how sad that we lost him to suicide. Proof that we men need to talk to each other because you just never know

  15. Condolences to his family and friends, grateful to the family for their recent press release and everything that will achieve, so important for men to talk to people when they can.

  16. Respect from New Zealand to Graham his family his friends his test mates and everyone who loved him he was an absolute star on the cricket field and even as a non Englishman he was just great to watch and fun aswell absolutely devastated to hear that he was battling depression for so long and ultimately lost the battle in the end sad that he is gone but most certainly will never be forgotten a absolute champion on and off the pitch R.I.P Thorpe and thank you for the great memories that you left all of us cricket fans

  17. Mark Butcher and Dom Cork have said it all about Graham Thorpe, he was a class act as a Batsman for England and Surrey

  18. One of the nest batters when I was growing up….reserved…very calm and composed…RIP mate😢

  19. Touched me deeply Thorpe’s death, just found out how he ended his life, heartbreaking. Legend 🫡
