This is a great drill to match up your putting stroke with your body set up. The putter will always arc naturally some, unless you are fighting it with your body. Another point not mentioned is that if you are trying a straight back straight through stroke, you are battling the torque on the putter face, making it much harder to start putts on line.

I’ll go try this right now! My dad always taught me to go straight back and through, but I’ve noticed my low handicap friends have a bit of an arc to their stroke.
