Tua means nothing to me, likewise the Miami helmetfish, but I don't take his quote about Flores as literal as you. He was probably downplaying the specifics. If you don't think Tua is mentally tough after playing for Saban in the Alabama pressure cooker I got nothing for ya. Everything points to Flo just being a gold medal a-hole, especially at that point in his career. He might have been particularly pissy working for that organization with the management in place, but all indications are he was a terrible manager of personnel. Beyond the normal terrible. He knows it's the reason he's likely to never get another shot at a HC gig (very unusual if you're exceptional at your job). He should just own it.

Flores seems best running a defense, the mentality of players fits better I think on that side of the ball with his hard ass style. Offense is usually more positive minded, defense is more negative (i.e. "I love you Frodo" vs. "you shall not pass" in LOTR terms).

There's hard coaching and then there's berating a guy daily that he's useless, shouldn't be on the team and that someone else was wanted. There's no teaching, nothing to learn from hearing you're unwanted and useless every day. Maybe Flores is one of those great coordinators that just isn't cut out to be a head coach. Wouldn't be the first, there's Josh McDaniels, Eric Bienemy, Brandon Staley and if the Jets go belly up again then Robert Salah too.
