SHIFT DROP BOW | The Perfect Golf Downswing Move | Golf Tips

Master the Perfect Golf Downswing: Shift, Drop, Bow Golf Drill | Transform Your Golf Swing with DL Golf Tips

Welcome back to DL Golf Tips! I’m David Leathem, and today I’m excited to share with you the ultimate golf drill for mastering your golf downswing: the Shift Drop Bow Golf Drill. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just starting out, getting the downswing move correct is crucial for a powerful and consistent golf swing. In this video, we’ll break down the golf downswing into three key segments: the Shift, the Drop, and the Bow. By understanding and mastering these three components of the golf downswing, you’ll be able to achieve a smooth and effective downswing that improves your accuracy, power, and control.

Segment 1: The Shift

The first step in our golf drill is the Shift. Many golfers struggle with getting the proper weight transfer during their downswing or correct weight shot in the downswing, which often leads to poor contact with the golf ball and a lack of power. In this section, I’ll guide you through the essential steps to achieve the correct weight shift in the downswing. We’ll focus on transferring your weight smoothly from your trail foot to your lead foot, ensuring that you don’t hang back on the golf ball. By mastering the Shift, you’ll create a strong foundation for the rest of your downswing, leading to better ball striking and more distance.

Segment 2: The Drop

Next, we move on to the Drop, a crucial part of the golf downswing that many golfers get wrong. The Drop involves allowing your arms to fall naturally into position during the golf downswing, rather than throwing them over the top or letting your body outrun your arms. This is where many players struggle, often leading to a slice or a weak shot. I’ll show you how to properly execute the Drop so that your arms can sync with the rest of your body in the golf downswing. By combining the Shift and the Drop, you’ll start to feel a more connected and fluid motion in your golf downswing, leading to more consistent and accurate shots.

Segment 3: The Bow

Finally, we come to the Bow, the third and final piece of the golf downswing puzzle. The Bow refers to the flexion of the lead wrist in the downswing, helping you to square the clubface at the last parallel. Many golfers struggle with this part of the golf downswing, often leading to an open clubface and a weak golf shot. In this segment, I’ll demonstrate how to achieve the correct wrist flexion in the downswing, allowing you to square the clubface and hit straighter, more powerful shots. When you combine the Bow with the Shift and Drop, you’ll have a complete golf downswing that’s balanced, controlled, and powerful.

By the end of this video, you’ll have a clear understanding of how to execute the Shift Drop Bow golf drill and transform your golf downswing. This golf drill is designed to help you build a more efficient golf downswing swing, leading to better performance on the golf course. Remember, practice is key, so take the time to work on each segment individually before putting it all together.
