Is Brendan Rodgers Right to Blame Rangers for Old Firm Lockout? | The Football Show LIVE

Is Brendan Rodgers right to blame Rangers for Old Firm fan lockout at Celtic Park? Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers stated that the decision that there will be no Rangers away fans in Celtic Park is entirely a “Rangers thing” and not something involving Celtic. Rodgers emphasized that the situation stems from actions taken by Rangers, stating, “It’s not a Celtic-Rangers thing. This is a Rangers thing.”

Rodgers elaborated on the efforts made by Celtic to accommodate fans, explaining that the club has invested time and resources into ensuring that the stadium is safe and ready for both sets of supporters. However, despite these efforts, an agreement between the two clubs has not been reached. “Celtic, when even they’re asked to have this agreement to make the stadium safe and everything else, we plough money into that, we do the works, which started months ago,” Rodgers explained. He further mentioned that the failure to reach a mutual agreement has led to the current situation where Old Firm away supporters are being locked out of each other’s stadiums for the upcoming matches.

Rodgers expressed disappointment over the missed opportunity for fans to experience the full atmosphere of the Old Firm derby. “I’m clearly disappointed for both sets of supporters because it’s been a long time now since we had a decent allocation for both clubs,” he stated. Despite the frustrations, Rodgers remains hopeful that future discussions will lead to a resolution that allows fans from both sides to attend these iconic matches.

Meanwhile, Rangers boss Philippe Clement also shared his thoughts, noting that while he was not directly involved in the discussions, he believes that having both sets of fans present would enhance the experience. “I hope for football games always that there are two sets of fans,” Clement said, acknowledging the importance of fan presence for the overall Old Firm experience.

  1. Ffs Brendan Rodgers needs to get over it. Stop being bitter. Did the Old firm not agree to let away fans back in last year?. Now Celtic don't want to honour that. How is that Rangers fault?. They need to grow up, sit down together at the table and agree something and stick to it. The atmosphere at those games used to be amazing. Well done Kilmarnock.

  2. He could blame the tooth fairy but then you would complain he isnt being truthful. Stop doing the old firm linkage. In the Celtic supporters minds that is fake news.

  3. Great show lads great talking points views opinons banter and topics take care stay safe and enjoy your football over the weekend come on the well come on ye well like subsribe and share to the football show!!!

    Premier Sports Predictions

    3-1 Celtic
    4-0 Aberdeen
    3-1 Dundee
    2-0 Hearts
    2-1 Ross County
    1-0 Dundee Utd

  4. Sevo owners started the ban on celtic fans because they couldn't handle them winning and celebrated in front of the Servco fans. FACT

  5. Someone needs to work on the sound mixing for this – someone coughed about halfway through and I near shit the bed it was that loud

  6. Of course rangers are to blame. They started this. If only 2500 Celtic fans get into swinebrox then 2500 Gers fans get into Celtic park. Simple as that. Screw the 5% bullcrap

  7. load a pish about celtic beating us at ibrox ya plonker – it was madness yous got the whole broomloan to begin with. It was up to rangers to cut that initial allocation to give more tickets to own fans

  8. Andy Bhoy was a fantastic fantastic player, never never done what he could've done so much more in football, that's what I think Bhoy's

  9. It's not just the fans, our staff are all in danger, let not forget what's happening before guy's, c'mon tae feck guys, celtic are Glasgow right now 🎉🎉🎉? 🎉

  10. I watch this for football news. Not for the presenter. Why is this Hibs fault. What a narcissistic boot licker Martin is. Let the pundits give their insights and ram your opinions

  11. Fans above was just stupidity, amazed in this day & age ( when everything has different standards than 1950's / accountability stands with person / company holding the event, ) there wasnt court case involving fans that were hit with objects, against Rangers company. Its not just the bottles but whats in the bottles, Coins, etc. it had to change, someone was going to get hurt badly . Once Celtic fans complain to the club about safety.. legally they have little option .

  12. Hes a fud. You dont see pep or any the big dogs acting like him. Hes been throwing digs at rangers since the moment he returns cause ue knows itll get his dumb thickle fans going "yass hes one of us" all to bank credit after walking out last time at first opportunity. Hes playing to the gallery like a right little fanny

  13. Absolutely killed this fixture … Early kick offs ,no away fans , can't sing what you want ….boring corporate americanized sport. Scottish fans deluded thinking it's special.

  14. Don't blame Hibs ffs. It's never been about celtic. We spent £100.000 on meeting all the safety requirements. But if the other lot can't do the same. Then why should celtic allow rangers fans into celtic park. When they started all this crap to begin with. They couldn't handle celtic fans Celebrating at ipox. So they cut the numbers of away fans to 800. From 8.000. They don't have the money to meet the safety requirements for celtic fans. Simple as that. They have spoilt the atmosphere during the Glasgow derbies. It was better when both sets of fans had thousands to cheer on their team at the away games. But until they can come to an agreement with celtic that they will uphold their end of the bargain by seeing that all away fans will be safe when they come to the asbestos ridden dump known as Ipox or £1brox. Then celtic are well within their rights to deny them any tickets for their bigoted fans. Keep celtic park a currant bun free zone. We don't need them. But I would personally like to see our fans being allowed into their horrible stadium to ram our victories down their throats by being able to sing and party in their own back yard. As smelly as it is. 😂 GIRFUPTHEM. 💚🍀💚🍀🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇮🇪
