How FAR I hit EVERY GOLF CLUB in my BAG

It is time to work on my gapping with the new clubs. This is the first installment in getting down to the numbers. It will take a little time to get them down but this is a good place to start. I hope this helps you look at your yardages for your clubs. I hope you enjoy!

  1. MSH Sir, how much of a gap between clubs is acceptable to you and your game. We all vary from day to day depending on how we are striking the ball, just curious as to how big or small a gap you like and if carrying a 6 iron and a 6 hybrid pays off. Thanks for the video's too, always helpful and entertaining.

  2. I’ve been following your site for a few months now and I love your style and personality. Like you I’m a short hitter, however, I recently broke 80 with ease and at the ripe old age of 70. Your recommendation to focus in from 100 yds and improve your short game is such good advice. Keep up the great videos.

  3. Thank you. Being new to golf, this is helpful seeing how far a good player (around my age) hits his clubs. 🤘😎

  4. The gap PW to 9i (in the table) is 13 yards so seems ok. The problem is 4h, hywood and 5 wood have similar carry distances though different ball flights. Are these doing different jobs? Is the 3w worth its place in the bag?(9 yds longer than 5w off a tee….). Looking forward to seeing where you take this and if you would prefer to have adjustable hosels on your hybrids/woods. At the end it woumd be good to see swing speeds, landing angles, spin and total (as well as carry) distances. Really interesting – looking forward to watching your process.

  5. Man these are about my yardages as well. I wouldn’t say you are short hitter. You look like a good golfer to me!

  6. I can't laugh since your swing speed is a little bit higher than mine. Enjoyed the video and knowing that what you review will be relatable to my game if I worked as hard as you to develop the skill and consistency.

  7. Great video! we are almost EXACTLY the same yardages on every club. I also love my hybrids use 3 thru 6. Only differences in clubs is my gap is 48 degrees.

  8. Your irons distances are pretty close to mine. I do although hit my 5 hybrid about 190. And hit 5 wood around 210. Good swing. My driver goes around 260.

  9. I've always had that goofy gap between my PW and 9 iron. (100/120). I just take a little off the 9 for the 110 shot. Our yardages are very similar.

  10. Thanks Mr. Short hitter that's some pretty crisp hitting ! also I value your opinion and if you get a chance click on me and give me your thoughts on my swing if you could Thanks !

  11. Exactly mistahshorthitter getting your gaps/distances with new irons & hywoods n hybrids is an ongoing thing as you learn & use your new irons /clubs .
Mistahshorthitter thats exactly what I've been doing the past couple days with my New Maltby TS3. Forged irons. set with new grips..

It's an ongoing thing gapping your clubs .💯💯

    Keep these great videos coming.

  12. Love the honesty my friend. In all truthfulness, we get too wrapped up in distance as amateurs. Your distances are more than enough to play from the white tees and play very well. I'm 6'3, athletic build so I should be able to hit it a mile, right? I used to, but now with two bad knees, a bad hip, and arthritis (runs in the family) I've lost distance. I've finally gotten to where I can hit my driver around 240 carry, roll out to 255 – 260. I'm more than happy with that.

  13. Great! Just yesterday I used my same monitor on the range. To see where things were at. Tech does not lie. Most people have no idea unless the use tech to find out carry numbers. Showed another person and asked want to try it? Sure! So, what do you expect to hit your PW or 7 iron? I heard 120 and about 150. I said, carry distance? They looked confused. Ok, let's check. How often are your shots short? Could be just selection of club. Yes. He was carrying PW about 107-110, 7 iron about 135-138. I showed him my numbers. This is what a 150-154, 7 iron looks like. Then showed him my driver. 237-240 carry, 99 mph, 1.47 Smash factor. Got one to 100 mph and 245 carry, 1.48 Smash factor. Proved to many people you don't carry it as far as you think.

  14. Who wouldn't take your game? Dead straight outscores 300 yarders hitting all over the place.

  15. Nice to see someone who’s also not as long as we used to be. Great video, very informative on getting a baseline on your distances.
    Well done, Mistah Short Hitter!

  16. Enjoyed this one. I hit my driver maybe a "smidge" more than you but you are a good club + longer than me with irons. I've been using Cobra Radspeed with senior flex for a couple of years now. I wish I hit them further but I hit them straight and as long as you know your distances I don't find it to be much of an issue.

  17. I’m 56 and have similar distances but need to work on my ball striking. Glad to see real world numbers on YouTube.

  18. I really like your videos as they are so inspiring and clearly tell me: You don't have to hit the ball for miles and still can score exceptionally well. You have to hit your target then you score. That's what you do so well and impresses me most, you can predict where you hit the ball almost all of the times. Go on like that!

  19. Great video. The distance you hit each club are just fine – especially with the consistency of your swing.

  20. Your yardages are similar to mine, i go 6 iron 9, 7, 5 woods then driver, can still shoot single figure rounds.

  21. Need advice from the MSH community.
I got fitted last year. The fitter bent my irons, Cobra King Tour, 2 degrees weak, 7i at 34°, because he said I needed more spin with my irons. My distances are about 10 yrds shorter than my old clubs. But my dispersion is much better so I'm OK with that. My ball striking has improved since then and my HC is dropping. Currently 12.4 but playing around a 9-10. Lately I've noticed I'm spinning approach shots quite a bit. Played today on a course with soft greens and PW-8i were stopping 6-3 feet respectively, BEHIND pitch mark. Played a course with firm greens last week and my 9i was carrying 135 and backing up 7-8 feet. On one hole, had 178yrds in, hit a well struck 5i which carried 2 feet past the hole and only rolled out another 2 feet.(made the birdie putt 👍) I'm thinking I should have the clubs bent back to Cobras stock angles. I think I would gain a little distance but still have plenty of spin to hold greens. Am I over thinking this? Should I just be happy with what I have? What do you guys think? What does MSH think? Hope my long post doesn't get glossed over. Thanks for any input.

  22. Thank you for sharing, you are a testament to course management and solid fundamentals. There are many ways to score well. Your love of the game comes through for all of us.

  23. Where the heck is all the other golfers? I’ve always wondered. Your course is so beautiful! Wish I could have that alone time like that.

  24. Good video. Not much different to my yardage. However ,you could simplify your wedge game by hitting half and 3 quarter swing shots instead of full swing. Also why have a 6 iron and 6 hybrid if they go the same distance ? You seem to have a full bag of clubs and there must be a lot of clubs that you hit similar yards with
